Entries this day: alarm seti unicycle alarm 1:15pm Friday 19 May 2000 Yesterday morning and this morning our house alarm went off. It's loud!! For some reason Zone 5 got triggered... Zone 5 is our upstairs bedroom windows. They were all closed. I don't know what the deal is. Called the alarm guy and he'll come out on Monday. Speakin' of Monday, we will likely get our DSL line on Monday!! We need to get NICs (Network Interface Cards) for the computers that we want to have DSL-connected. Yay!! We are almost done with the big project that I've been working on for probably over a month. "almost done" means almost done with initial coding for this year. Next year we will enhance it more probably. Just added to the project is (essentially) "allow administrators to add new participants to the database, but not add them to the administrator's list" I'll retro-fit a big piece of code to allow that. seti 2:37pm Friday 19 May 2000 I'm not sure if this will work correctly, but I'll try it. For the last 90-few days, my computer at work has been helping with the Seti@home project. The idea is that astronomers have collected a lot of data, hoping to find signals from alien life. To help the search, people can volunteer their excess computer resources to dig through the data. I'm putting this snapshot of my ranking in my journal because I have just found that I can use my linux machine at home to search data as well. AND, my linux machine does it a lot faster than this machine. I will encourage Dude to use his machines at home to do the same. We can start a team called MR Laboratories!!!

unicycle 6:20pm CDT Friday 19 May 2000 I just unicycled around the block!! I did it in only 2 starts!! Actually it took 4 starts, but 2 of them resulted in immediately dismounting (falling off;-).
ps: I have noticed that a lot of my journal entries are short, and I think it would be much nicer for you, my lovely reader, if links to [prev] and [next] journal entries were at the bottom of each entry. I think it will be relatively simple to add this feature; although it *might* slow down the script a little. (Depends now how well I can write it.) permalink prev day next day |
