Entries this day: Dream Ultimate after_ultimate Dream 5:28am CDT Tuesday 10 October 2000 (dream) With Wende at Container Store, just hanging out.. We had been there for hours and I was really bored. I expressed my feelings of "ugh; can we just leave?" and we fought a bit. She said, "there are times that I'm at your work for this long," and I was all, "and you complain just as much as I am now." We left and said Bye to everyone and then arrived in a gymnasium where administrators of University of Houston were interviewing people to see how they choose which university to attend. The student was saying that he chooses the best football team and goes to that school. This dream results I think from the situation at Rice, where the student DJs are feeling pressure from the administration to change the radio station to broadcast more university interests. Ultimate 7:41 pm 10 October 2000 I'm out at the ultimate field. Actually it's called Lawrence Park, but it's where we played ultimate on Wednesday nights for a long while. Now we've been booted from Wednesdays by some people who play softball. I dno't know how they get to reserve it more than a week in advance, but apparently they do. Right now there's two distinct groups of young men playing soccer. I don't know how long they would play without outside influence. I don't know if anyone else will show up to play ultimate, either. Meek and Mike indicated they would. But I doubt three people would be reason to kick all 40 people off the field who are currently there. As I've been writing this entry there is an incessant music box of a truck tinkling bell soundiing noises with duck quacks and a woman's voice saying "hello" between the music portions. It lasts about 15 seconds total. It's 7:46 pm now so I've heard it that many times already. There's one more. It's like an ice cream van, but it's selling tacos. 7:48 pm Yay! The van is leaving! Wait.. it just parked behind me.. doh! 7:49 pm Yay! She just left for real. 7:54 pm nap time 8:32 pm Voices beside me woke me up. Bill and Mike talking and James in the car. after ultimate 10:50pm CDT Tuesday 10 October 2000 Thankfully, it wasn't as cold tonight as it had been on previous nights. We had a small group - 8 regulars and a guy named William, "but you can call me Shorty." Shorty played really well for his age. Heck, he played better than some of us! We all played well I believe. I'm glad we played even though it was mostly 4 on 4. I had more great catches than great throws I think. But the best play of all began with some short fast passes that worked the disc all the way to the endzone where it was thrown to Mark right on the line just as I was running into the goal and Mark tipped it into my hands. The intentional run-on sentence above shows how fast that play was. prev day next day |
