Entries this day: cable_modem espanol jennifer cable modem 3:46 pm Thursday 17 May 2001 We now are back online!! yay!!!!! At home I mean! With cable modem, so it's pretty speedy. I haven't seen it be ridiculously fast, but it's pretty darn fast. At leat as fast as DSL was. I'm happy with that. - - - - Turns out the reason it seemed not so fast is they were having problem with the service. It's pretty fast now. Yay internet access!! espanol 10:56pm Thursday 17 May 2001 I'm being lazy and cutting and pasting part of what I wrote to Sally in an email into my journal. Good random stuff. In two languages. Aprendando español es bien, pero no estudio muy mucho. Estudio a veces. (Is aprender "to learn"? Is aprendando "learning"? Can I say "learning spanish is good" that way?) Ayer, hablo con mi viejo amigo Francisco, quien hable español all his life (todo él life ? (todo él viv-something?)). Dice que tengo que aprender uno palabra cada dia. Hablando con amigos en español es muy fun, y Luz Clarita (Wende's name en clase de español) y yo might comemos con Dude y Veronica, y hablamos en español. I'm guessing the sentence structure at the end of my paragraph is incorrect. Am I trying to use the future imperfect? I have no idea what is the name of the type of speech I'm trying to write. I know we haven't learned it yet. Dude and Veronica saben español muy bien, y son even mas buenos amigos que Francisco. - - - - Wende and I got our internet access re-established after 4 weeks of no access at home! Today we had cable modem connected, and it's a pretty refreshing thing to have back. And, as a side benefit, I can watch The Simpsons and Futurama on Fox with a clear picture now. The guy had to give me a cable splitter though; we were not listed to get TV access when he hooked up our cable internet access. And, I still have to actually terminate the ends of the cables to hook up the TV. The splitter is a great start though. :-) jennifer 11pm Thursday 17 May 2001 Yesterday Jennifer from the pottery place called me and asked if we could meet so she could talk. I'm glad that I was able to find time to hang out with her tonight.... at Amy's Ice Cream(!!) She described the situation as she saw it. She has done the best presentation she can, but now has to wait 2 weeks to find out what they think. Did she pass? Will she win? She's decided her life will have markedly different paths depending on what they say. It's an interesting situation in which she has placed herself. I offered some different viewpoints and options as best I could, and offered that no matter what, I'm still her friend and I still love her. - - - - As I arrived home, she called me saying that her car stalled out at Whole Foods. I suggested that she ask some of their peeps there; they're pretty friendly. I just called her to see how her car fared, and it's all good; she called her dad... and here's the good part: she got good (not yet confirmed) news from him about the outcome that will be revealed after 14 more days. yay!! I love synchronicities! |
