Entries this day: Dream1 Dream2 future_IM pulp_quotes z_egypt Dream1 6:30am CDT Tuesday 26 June 2001 (dream) Driving on a highway and it was raining hard. I was still driving fast with the rest of traffic, and suddenly there was traffic coming my direction on my side of the freeway. I scooted over to the right hand lane to get out of their way. Christine was riding with me, and some other people. We stopped and were walking along some slightly hilly terrain, and came up to a small pond where there were iguanas swimming in the water. We saw no fewer than 8 iguanas and 1 alligator. The alligator was right next to one of the girls from ultimate, and I told her to move out of the way, but she did not get bitten because I recognized it was a dream. I wondered about what would have been the best thing to say to keep her from being alarmed, but still have her move quickly out of the water, and not go, "what?" as the alligator bit her. Dream2 6:35am CDT Tuesday 26 June 2001 (dream) Driving home from Austin, I was so tired that I didn't really remember the drive once I arrived home. Actually I arrived at Bob an Jennifer's house as planned, and they were about to have pizza with their two sons. I told them I was so tired and wondered if I could just sleep in their living room until time to eat. I didn't need the sleep apparently as I rode my bike to the pizza place, and I spent a pretty long time outside locking it up. to a frame that was part bunk bed, part newspaper dispenser, part bike rack. I debated whether to lock up my backpack or just the bike. I locked up both. Went inside to eat and they already had their food, ad there was a slice of pizza waiting for me to eat. I then went to a closet where I had apparently hidden a key to my bike lock. The closet was musty, spooky, and almost empty. As I was looking for the container in which my key was hidden, a slightly rotten something fell from the ceiling. Like a leather pouch or something. I was startled and woke up before I could look inside the mysterious bag. future IM 5:04pm Tuesday 26 June 2001 Earlier today I was reading Colleen's journal entry that indicated she had been online, but no one else was online. Just now I was thinking .... in a couple years this won't be the case. So many people will have their internet connectivity as they walk around. So there won't be any more concept of "have to be at the computer to chat." We'll just chat. It will be more like, "No one else had their connection open," or "Everyone was DND," which, of course, will mean, "everyone had their mode set to Do Not Disturb." In Europe now they use text messaging apparently *all the time* as opposed to us in US, where it hasn't really caught on yet. It will come. - - - - While I'm kinda on the subject... A couple months ago I predicted the following scenario: Web cameras are going to become ridiculously prevalent, to the point that people will just have to deal with the fact that they are probably always being watched. That's some years away before people get over it, but in the interim, how will this transition occur? I predicted that the big fights will occur when people are renting or leasing property, and the owner has a camera installed. Who has the rights in this case? I was thinking more along the lines of homes and apartments, but just recently I found this lawsuit about a guy in a rental car. The company that owned the car put in a GPS and charged him for speeding. Nice. I was basically right. pulp quotes 7:10am CDT Wednesday 27 June 2001 Last night after work, I watched the first half of Pulp Fiction, writing different quotes to use as mugbook quotes at upcoming rallies. :-) I also went back through all the mugbooks that I have kept over the years (I seem to be missing more than I thought) and wrote down some of the quotes from Pulp Fiction that I've used so far. I know there are more quotes that I've used, but I no longer have those mugbooks. :-( So, from the first half of the movie, I came up with the following quotes, most of which have no colorful language, and that I think are either funny (esp. taken out of context), or intriguing, or just cool.
z egypt 11:37pm CDT Tuesday 26 June 2001 I'm reading a book about the Mysterious of Egypt, specifically the history and intrigue around the great pyramid. Pretty amazing stuff. Awe inspiring, magical, wow. |
