Entries this day: AM Debbie PM _pm circle games AM 8:20am CDT Sunday 21 July 2002 Crunch went the fire pit. Tina yelled "YOU RAN OVER THE FIRE!!" Then when he backed up trying to look at the damage done up front, he bumped into a tree. Oh no!!!! Sean just went "Bwwababqbwbwaaaaa!!!" First advisor meeting after cream cheese and peanut butter bagel. Tanner was all, "that sounds gross. but it's cool that you're eating it." :-) Funny. Joe and Amber slept in an air conditioned car last night. Our secret agent identities have been self-created. Here is mine: de donde? Zooropa mas favorito? Banana Phone que trabajando? Long Jokes quantos anos? 11800 days mas recento? The man in white gloves, black hat, red cape who killed my mom, my dad, my seven brothers & seven sisters nombre? Thunder Rabbit RAAB SWUUSI 2002 Church of the larger nomadic fellowship 10:39am Advisor meeting with Debu in charge was good but a bit long for me. Now after two bowls of cereal and soy milk, I'm down with advisors and youth leaders for the Power Shuffle Pre-history and stuff. Amy Leyenberger just gave an EXCELLENT answer to "What is the purpose of Power Shuffle?" My favorite part of the planned Power Shuffle is that when people process after the Power Shuffle, they get to choose their groups: process with people they know and love best. 12:10pm Took several tries to get my cell phone message to say without static "Hi this is Rob, and the apartment has been rented and I'll be out of town until the 28th. Bye." Little bit of booty dancing and gave Bryn the Spam-ku book, gave Tanner the Hello Nasty Beastie Boys poster. Will give to Rick my tiled chalice. I remembered Kat Checkley's name, introduced her around. Hethre has scheduled a Silent Football Rules workshop so the rule description during the game can be faster. Debbie 12:15pm CDT Sunday 21 July 2002 Classic YRUU story has just occurred: Debbie requested help getting stuff out of the back of her Suburban. The door handle is broken on the back, so she climbed in the side door and onto the stuff in the back in an attempt to open the back doors from the inside. She got stuck. I hollered at everyone, "hey come look at Debbie stuck in the back of her truck!" Debbie hollering "help! heeelllllp!!" inside in a way that pleads "how goofy of a situation did I get into this time?" Pretty goofy. But everyone came to look (several people, thanks to me) and.. when Joe came and successfully opened the door from the outside, many people were there to carry all the stuff. Excellent! PM 2:44pm CDT Sunday 21 July 2002 Bryn and David swing danced until they got too hot. Chris and I stood in the shade to watch. Bryn liked going behind David because he has glitter all over his back. Went swimming and rode around on the yellow raft with Sean and Abbey until it got ganked by Mikey. Helped Phat Pat pick up big rocks and skip them (and by skip them I mean not skip them). Chatted with Abbey for a bit about school and plans and such. Might say HI to her in Ohio when I'm up that way. pm 8:27pm CDT Sunday 21 July 2002 I got the opportunity to listen to Erin share about stuff in her life. The culmination of this event was her eating for the first time in two days. I missed the advisor meeting, and therefore haven't signed up for rover duty. Eeep. Now I'm down by the lake but, again, there's only one advisor (me). 8:31pm Ah, Steve is here. [splash splash splash splash] 9:29pm Cake: on the table, on the stereo, on Tanner, Bryn, Chris. Tonight is the first night dance. Lots of peeps chilling and dancing and such. Debbie hollering, "No! Just let one song play all the way through! I like that song. leave it right there. what is the problem???" 11:03pm Time for worship soon. We have successfully had the first night's check in at our touch groups. Our group got to meet Hunter from Houston, new to our group. We'll probably have a Silent Football game after worship. I'm not sure though. 11:28pm David and I just figured out another way to play the psychic number game. We can get numbers up to 63, but we're sticking with 50 to make our technique less obvious. We also amazed Chez by communicating "Penelope Cruz" and "Jimmy Fallon" Nice. Worship soon maybe. 12:17am I stood between Bryn and Wende at worship. Good thing we were all holding hands in the circle cause I was falling asleep, using them to keep my balance while standing (and sleeping). Bryn wore no sleeves, had a bit of trouble with mosquitoes. Nice first night worship. Very appropriate. 1:05am Calder is leading a Silent Football game. I'm thrilled about that; she is even showing new people how to play. I hope the game goes well. I won't be there for I have set up my bed on the road by the lake. 2:28am Bryn and Chris came down to sleep as well. circle 5:19pm CDT Sunday 21 July 2002 We've just had opening circle, which started earlier than scheduled. Now Richard West is leading the first-timers' meeting and I'm chillin' against the wall here outside. During opening circle Amy got on Noah's back and I squatted in front of Noah, who climbed onto my back. It was a bit difficult to stand, but we did for a while, until Noah leaned forward to hug me and I lost my balance and we tumbled forward. Doh! I didn't mean to cause that much disruption during opening circle, but that's the way it was. 5:35pm I'm chillin' out by the lake; five youth are interested in swimming, but may not until another advisor arrives. Scott inquires about boundaries (as he should), "can we get our feet wet?" "can we swim over there and bug those people?" "Haha; no." I said, "you can get your feet wet, but no shorts wet." "Do these count as shorts?" "Can we take our shorts off?" "No knees can get wet." 5:45pm Natalie and Lawren are squirting one another with water bottles (near my laptop no less) "Rob are you recording this?" "I am now." games 6:55pm CDT Sunday 21 July 2002 No other advisors made it down to the lake, so we went back up to touch group meetings at 6:pm. Cabin 6 is my touch group, starring Edward Decker, John from Witchita, David M from Houston, Chris from Houston, Edward L from San An, Troy W from same place Edward is from, and I don't remember the rest now. So flattering that Edward said the games I know are more fun than those that were listed in the Touch Group leader manual! So I showed them how to play Detective, Dead Fish, Captain Video, Swedish Drinking Game. (not in that order). I'm pleased with my decision to keep some games books in my mobile library. Captain video was the favorite of the evening. prev day next day |
