Entries this day: Koko Three fred_stories studying_NOT! Koko 1:30pm JST Wednesday 4 June 2003 ここ brought her English texts for me to peruse. I liked 1 for ふみ, but it was too advanced. Correct style, though. She had one of idioms which しん said he wanted. Perfect. We yammered mostly in English today and traded funny advertisments. Like the Nova うさぎ listening to headphones and the headphones are on the correct part of his head if he had human ears, but he's a rabbit, so his ears are way up high. He's doing some turntablism, and then someone's like, "hey; where are your ears?" and he goes, "oops" and gets embarassed. That's some funny shit. I told her about SEGA's commercials featuring Sonic the Hedgehog turntabling at light speed. "SONIC! ... Man, lay off da light speed." "My bad!" ここ showed me some restaurants around きくな and we found a bookstore that had the exact idiom book she had used. Bang I bought that for Shin, and then found a puzzle (two interlocking "rings" (shaped more like bent paper clips)) that I could not solve in 10 minutes. Bang I bought that for Fred. (The other puzzles of interlocking "rings" on display there I had solved in 30 seconds each, but this one passed the test.) I gotta go to Subway for my third possible student. permalinkThree 3:22pm JST Wednesday 4 June 2003 Rock! あき would like to meet twice per week right here in つなしま for 2 months. I'm not accepting any more private students now. permalinkfred stories 3:43pm JST Wednesday 4 June 2003 Fred told some stories at OKC rally talent show. I didn't remember two of them, so he reminded me. We made our first contract on the way to Canada while waiting at the service station for the rabbit to get fixed. (I don't think I ever knew what was wrong.) I kept getting upset that you were calling me names, so we agreed that if one of us called the other a name, the punishment was getting hit. Seemed fair, the contract was solid, and we signed. The ink wasn't even dry before you started taunting me. It took about twenty seconds for me to call you a name. Within three minutes, you'd hit me three or four times, I had shredded the contract, and proceeded to pummel you. Ah, the difference four years can make. The rowboat thing goes like so: for some reason, about four or five of us were standing on the dock looking at a rowboat. I got in, probably at the collective agreement that rowboats were cool. I never intended to go anywhere--I was just sitting in it. Someone (I think it was you) untied the boat, which proceeded to float away. I started to get scared, and yelled for you to go get Mom so she could rescue me. As I was floating slowly away (I was 20 or 30 feet from the dock), you told me how to row myself back in. "Face backwards," you said. Just use the oars. Face backwards, I thought. That's fucked up. That's just about fucked up enough to be right. I mean, you just can't make up that kind of shit. Even if it isn't, I can just turn around to fix it. And if I'm crooked, I can just flail about with one oar to get pointed the right way again. That dock's not that far away. I can do this, I thought. I took a deep breath. "MMOOOOOOOOOM!" I don't remember the first one at all. I kinda remember the rowboat thing. permalinkstudying NOT! 12:38am JST Thursday 5 June 2003 Tonight I've successfully not studied; I've sent a bunch of emails and reduced the number of emails in my Inbox to 29. It was over 100 a few days ago. I also played with Fred's puzzle for about an hour. Still couldn't solve it. Excellent. I hope he has at least as much fun with it. I'm gonna prepare my brain for tomorrow, maybe study, maybe not, then sleeep. ps: with the students I'll be privately tutoring, I should make enough money for my daily expenses. Awe.some. permalinkprev day next day |
