Entries this day: AM Takoyaki Work jimmy_da_magnet AM 12:37pm JST Tuesday 30 March 2004 Amazed at how many things I can find to procrastinate. And I don't seem to know why I'm procrastinating. But, I took my suit to the cleaners (and the guy provided the epitome of attentive perfect Japanese customer service), and I took my bike to the bike shop to get my seat reattached to the seat post. It had been glued to the seat post, but the glue got old (or tired) and it came out of the post. The guy reglued the seat, got a little dab of glue *on* the seat. I don't think the seat cover was texturally damaged, but it did stain a bit. 300 yen for the service. permalinkTakoyaki 1:36pm JST Tuesday 30 March 2004 I wanna get a video of the guy making takoyaki in Musashikosugi. His hands are so fast. permalinkWork 11:14pm JST Tuesday 30 March 2004 I had Makiko today; we finished talking about giving directions, which we've worked on during the previous double-header lesson we had, where I made a 3D map of the area around her work so I could understand how to describe where people should go to get different places that she regularly needs to send them. Today we worked on generalized direction giving, and she lined up some of the same language with the longer sentences I gave her so she could really grok the vocab and the reason for saying it. I think this was a really good thing for her; I judge it would help me a lot with learning the structures and the vocab all at once. permalinkjimmy da magnet 12:39am JST Wednesday 31 March 2004 Went to Jimmy da magnet's house after work to talk about the business idea that Jesse described to me earlier today. Jimmy seems to have a good business sense about him; knowing or at least describing logical growth progressions, so we're not trying to start with a huge business model, but start easy and grow from there. It's pissing down rain; actually it's just a hard sprinkle, but the wind makes it go all over the place. This seems a really impressive storm for Japan. One of the best I've seen. But still no lightning. Still nothing on a Houston storm. Jimmy may help me find the means to produce my roller coaster book. Money. As I was leaving, I was like, "I'd love to work on you with.. wait. I'd love to work with you on this book," which was actually pretty funny, considering the innuendos we had been tossing about during the evening. His apartment is a proper sized apartment. Two big ass fish tanks in the living room; maybe 200 gallons each I'm guessing. We'll hang out more. permalinkprev day next day |
