Entries this day: Today camera dan

Today

1:11pm JST Thursday 8 April 2004

So far today, I was able to get my butt out of bed to return the video on time, and I've successfully written a page and a half of questions and answers from the book. yay for successful homework completion!

Now it's time to write a letter to Erika and do the other things on my list. Hopefully Dan's camera will be ready today.

3:54pm

Yay for kickin' it outside with Hitoe and Matteo, the couple who live below me in the building. They were just enjoying the newfound sunrays and Riki was there for a bit spraying various things with the water bottle Matteo had been using to stay cool.

Hitoe is off her crutches and has basically the rest of this month to heal her ankle before she's back on the job as a World Wide Tour Guide!!! I asked her how she got herself hooked up with that job. Suddenly I felt myself wondering if it's really what I want to do.

Hitoe helped me tell her in Japanese how to make chocolate chip cookies, the recipe I have in (oh I forgot the butter!! janette - how would they turn out without butter?) my head (imperfectly, it seems,) after some months spent kickin' it with janette, the Chocolate Chip Cookie Queen.

Later today Hitoe will check my sentences that I wrote this morning for homework for lesson with Ayana tomorrow.

Yay. Dan's boss' camera is finished. I'm on the train now to get it from Yodobashi camera in 川崎。 I'm really glad to have this adventure quite near completion.

Couple days ago, Dan sent me an email (on ketai of course) including a forward from his boss:

REMEMBER THE CAMERA.
PUT IT IN YOUR BAG N
OW. SEE YOU LATER

This was the day after Daniel told me something like, "actually I'm kind of enjoying this. Every time I lie to him about it, I feel like I'm James Bond or something, like we're in this spy thriller. In any case, it's going to make a great story later, so let's enjoy it now while we're in it. Tell the guys at Yodobashi Camera to keep it as long as they like."

6:23pm

CAM (*) is complete. However, KAM was unsuccessful. A woman was handing out tissues in bold yellow packages - the same color yellow as The Bride's suit in Kill Bill. I was like, "sumimasen" (excuse me; I've walked by you 3 times why won't you give me one of your tissue packs?) and she's all, "gomenezai" (I'm sorry.) Grr stupid profiling in Japan. Oh, do they call it targeted marking?

(*) Camera Acquisition Mission

The camera cost 13,740 yen. I got to watch part of Tomb Raider in the store. Camera seems to work perfectly.

I think after checking homework/chatting with Hitoe, I'll go to Dan's apartment and give him the camera. I wonder if he's off work today or if he'll get home at 10pm.

10:21pm

Operation PAG complete. I wore my GAP hoodie inside out for this one. Met Dan at Hioyshi station. I don't know if he noticed my hoodie.
