hello, summer.

I'm on the train, headed for work.  I tell everyone that I love this weather.  

I do love it.  

I like to imagine the humidity is a warm blanket,
I am wrapped snugly in a warm bed.  

"I just pretend I'm in bed all day long."

But, 

sometimes, 

I secretly feel hot.

But, never hot enough to long for winter.

Work

Work is a pretty light load today. Three classes between 4pm and 9:15. Then I'm meeting a private student at 9:30 in 元住吉.

I recorded for Yasuko her speech, allowing time for her to listen and repeat between each sentence or phrase. I hope it's helpful for her.

Right now, during this free lesson, I'm recording the Chinese tape via the analog cable Roscoe lent me several days ago. He inquired about it yesterday which has prompted me to get the shit recorded and done.

I'm going to look (again) into voice transcription software for Mac. Closer to buying it this time.

Met with Masashi for the first time tonight; quick 5000 yen, oh so lovely for two hours of work. We'll meet 5 more times through August, basically once every two weeks. I'll drop 2 classes at the end of every other Sunday in August.

Chatted with Olivia tonight after getting home. Bought some foodage (with my 5000 yen) and chowed while we talked about her guy problems and my similar situations. I think I'll talk about Jenni instead of the other one. She had to work late again tonight but I called her briefly cause she had emailed me about being down on her job for such long hours.

Ribbia read to me her horoscope for the year and mine for the year. Very interesting how the personalities seem to match.

During work today /トモ sent me an email and the short version of the story is that though I had told her I'd meet her on Wednesday (tomorrow), I didn't write it in my schedule book, and subsequently scheduled myself to meet Yasuko tomorrow at the same time.

Called /トモ and やすこ and got everything sorted out; やすこ will likely meet me at the restaurant where I'm meeting /トモ and pick up the cassette tape there. I don't know (where the restaurant is, nor) where she works, so I don't know if she'll want to come (that far) out or not.

We will see.

Mutsumi and I coordinated where we will meet on Saturday for Ultimate, and scoped some roller coaster sites cause we both like high adrenaline activities. Awesome. She told me about some parks around Tokyo I hadn't previously heard of. Sweet!

Got upstairs and found a package in front of my door. I assumed from janette at first, but.. it's from my brother. I haven't opened it yet. But he assured me I would like it and it will be useful.

Okay. Time to open Fred's present to me.

Wow. $27.10 postage. The box appears tobe a large shoebox for big Nugen Feet. He wrote my address in romanji on the box and then rewrote it on an offwhite card for better visibility. A new sticker has been added below that, with kanji and English: "Opened and Packed for Customs Clearance. Tokyo Int'l Post Office"

JAPAN POST tape has somewhat restored the box's ability to enclose things.

Wow. He insured it for $100.

Looks like when Fred finished with the box at home, it had been sealed with clear tape so that I could cut three pieces of tape lengthwise and open the box. When he got to the post office, they made him add a big-ass customs piece of paper to identify the contents. That got plastered on the side of the box in its own clear plastic protective envelope.

There's also a super thin translucent white rubbery sticky film on one side of the box. I'm sure Fred doesn't have this laying around the house, but I'm not sure why someone at the post office would have put it on the box. It's not sealing the box closed, but.. ah-ha - it was added after the postmark was stamped on the box. So I know Fred didn't do it, but I don't know why it was done.

Okay. I'm opening the box now. Plastic bag. blue UU lettering on black shirt. It's gotta be a rally shirt. Probably Houston Rally given that he said he's had it for a while.

With high temperatures of 85 to 88 degrees this week, I probably won't wear it at sea level, but I can wear it ON TOP OF MT FUJI NEXT WEEK!!!
