Entries this day: Cold Work dan wow Cold 9:28am JST Sunday 15 August 2004 Well, I have to give Tokyo weather props for being cool (*), but I have to give it a growl for getting cold. This morning, at 5am, through my window I heard a huge rush of an oncoming wall of rain. I'm not sure how to spell such a sound, but it was like, "rrrrrrRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAR" as it ran toward my open window. It would have been cool to see, but it was dark, and we were sleeping, so Hitomi jumped up to close the window. [ssshuup] (sound of window closing) [RAR] (sound of rain pelting heavily) "Wow." (that was a close call) (*) cool in the "wow that was cool!" way, not in the "hey it's getting cold" way. - - - - But now it's *cold*!! Argh! I was loving loving loving the 35 C degree weather! permalinkWork 11:30am JST Sunday 15 August 2004 Partially okay with work today. I'm not 100% fuck sending postcards because even though I don't like the controls being put on me by work, I do like some of my students. Like Mari. And she gave me feedback, so I am allowed to give her a postcard. Weak postcard: [lastname] Marisan Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback for my lesson. I appreciate the time you take to choose my lessons and to provide feedback. - ROB And the printing looks a lot like a typewriter, too. 4:34pm Work has been pretty good so far. Had a level up test with 90% correct in only 25 minutes. Awesome. Played 20 questions with a student who didn't know the concept of the game. The next student did know. She got the answer in 6 questions. Wow. We didn't play infinity questions, but I told her the concept. 7:01pm Done with work. I get off work early tomorrow, which is rather surprising, but not so surprising that I didn't jump at the chance to close some lessons. - - - - During my 3rd and 2nd to last lessons (with Hiromi), she told me about her adventures with marriage, which are dramatically different than would realistically have ever happened in the US. Like three different reasons the situation would never happen. Wow. It was interesting for me to note how my upbringing tended to put her in the category of Crazy and not just Pushed About By Japanese Culture. permalinkdan 7:10pm JST Sunday 15 August 2004 Haha I told Jen to tell Dan that I can't make it to his final and last bye-bye party tonight because I have big plans to climb Mt Mofaka tomorrow. Hahahaha. (( She thought I was serious, and she was sad. )) 10:46pm Dan has been here 1 year tomorrow. We wonder when it was that I broke 10 spokes on my borrowed bike. A year ago today? Hahahahaahah This morning, at 5am, in Shibuya, on a local train, headed for Tsunashima, Dan sat down. At 7:20am, in Naka Meguro, on a Limited Express, headed toward Shibuya, Dan woke up. 10:58pm We're kickin' it at the Dirty W in Tsunashima. I'm sad to see Dan go, but I'm priviledged to hang out with him without a huge posse of people; just Jen, Tetsu, me and Hitomi are here. And Dan is not crazy zany drunk (*), so that's good. (*) Jen invites me to write "yet" at this point, as she has hung out with him many more times than I have. 11:57pm We didn't stay all night; Jen had to go to Dan's and pick up some stuff including my clippers (!) and, ultimately, Bluey (@). (!) Dan offhandedly said that I could have his clippers, which is awesome cause today I was wishing that I had asked him for them, and had assumed that he had promised them to someone else. When Jen mentioned that she was going to Dan's house tonight to get some stuff, Dan said she could get the clippers, too. Then, when Jen was like, "what else am I getting?" Dan and I both said, "my clippers." High five. (@) Bluey is Dan's trusty friend and companion (and some say life partner) and two wheeled human powered transportation vehicle. permalinkwow 2:59am JST Monday 16 August 2004 Wow! So far, a few days after I set up my match.com affiliate account and adwords campaign, I have spent $0.69 (that's 69 cents) on advertising, and have made $33.64. permalinkprev day next day |
