Entries this day: AM Chinese Soaked dan pumping AM 9:48am JST Wednesday 29 September 2004 I've just spent 30 minutes writing more about yesterday. I included descriptions of people; I'm tired of having all my sentences start with I. I think it makes my writing dull and make me sound like I don't think of anyone else, which is often true. oops! permalinkChinese 9:50am JST Wednesday 29 September 2004 Time to P then study Chinese. permalinkSoaked 7:46pm JST Wednesday 29 September 2004 Rode my bike to Kawasaki and it pretty much started raining during my ride. Also during the ride, I was surprised by how much my arms and back were sweating. I noted, however, once I arrived, my jacket is not particularly waterproof; it was rain, not sweat. Miki told me a typhoon was coming. I guess it has arrived. But it's not too windy, so I think my room will be okay. I'm pretty sure I left the window slightly open. I called Rene and he said he would check. When Miki learned that Dan's byebye party is tonight, she was like, "if I were you, I would go," but she kinda said it wrong in a cute way; I don't remember how exactly.. Uh.. Oh we ate ice cream and chatted a bit and I taught her the word 'soaked.' Afterward, I showed her my bicycle and then I rode to Tsunashima. And it was pouring rain. Pouring, drenching, good-job-Tokyo kind of storm. There was no thunder nor lightning; it was a pure typhoon, not an awesome Houston Summer Storm. I settled into enjoying the ride; I could barely see, especially when blinded by oncoming headlights, and I remained vigilent for any sudden discontinuities in the sidewalk. But the rain was not cold, so I just enjoyed the ride. I arrived safely; no unpredicted dismounts; nor unintended impacts. So now I'm here at DW's with Jen, Olivia, et al; Dan, Tetsuya and Hitomi will be here soonishly. permalinkdan 12:17am JST Thursday 30 September 2004 Here are pics of Dan and I on Bluey and TJ Bike. Lots of yammering tonight; mostly talked with a cat named Scott from Texas. He's Dan's old roommate. I should have asked him to pay for the internet service that the cat named Steve is going to pay me for tomorrow. Scott is from somewhere north of Arlington. He went to A&M and has more of a Texan accent than I do, but he still hates Bush, but he hasn't registered to vote overseas yet. He was pretty outgoing and stuff tonight; he seems to like to drink a lot. He used the term "eft up" as in "I'm gonna get eft up tonight," where "eft" is short for "fucked." These are pics from this night (Dan's byebye party) and a couple nights ago for Dan's welcome back to Tokyo party. permalinkpumping 12:20am JST Thursday 30 September 2004 What do you call giving a ride to someone on a bicycle? Pumping? Dinking? Doubling? We didn't get into the debate tonight, but I carried 43 kg of Hitomi from Tsunashima to Motosumiyoshi. It took 30 minutes. Went up and down the hill at Hiyoshi without stopping and without her getting off. Awesome practice for my trip. It was a bit nervewracking, but I tried to enjoy it. I enjoyed it more when it seemed like she was holding on carefully. At times she had her umbrella open to protect from itsy bitsy sprinkly, but that was pretty much okay. I just wanted her to stay safe. Hitomi seemed to quite enjoy it. permalinkprev day next day |
