Entries this day: Bike Kellie Work Bike 1:54pm JST Friday 1 October 2004 Rode TJ Bike to my Japanese lesson in Shibuya. 46 minutes. Before the lesson, I bought my customary Vanilla Cream Frappaciono, and realized that I needed some food; I hadn't eaten yet. I was like, "行ってきます。" to the girls who giggled and "行ってらしゃい" and then more giggling for "只今" and "おかいりなさい。" These are greetings normally used at home; I was implying that the Starbucks is like home to me. Japanese humor. I think. During the lesson, Ayana had a phone call with her boss and was pretty upset with the amount of work they've had to do (working until 7am the next day many days per week, causing her to cancel our previous two lessons) but it was all good; I wrote a bit of a narrative for my bicycle adventure that day. - - - - Bought a bike pump and water holder on the way home. permalinkKellie 7:58pm JST Friday 1 October 2004 I just met Kellie at work, tall white-bleached-blonde with dark black roots with non-accent American accent. Turns out she's from Hawaii; lived on Oahu for 10 years. I was like, "oh!" and showed her the pics of me on Wailua falls. I was reallly happy when she said she had never seen anyone go down there. Awesome. She's lived in Japan for a while I think; I might have my 10 years mixed up, but I think she said she's lived in Japan for 10 years as well. She wears gold-looking bracelets and her forearm muscles are literally shaped as if the muscles start well up her arm, like giving her a long wrist. She said long-term bracelet wearing does that. And, "you're not Hawaiian if you don't have the bracelets." She's wearing a gold looking frog ring that used to have emerald eyes. She told me how to get to Secrets Beach where everyone runs around naked. I thought I had been to Secrets Beach with Zach et. al, but there were no nekkid people, so maybe I'm wrong. Or they didn't want to come out in February. permalinkWork 8:06pm JST Friday 1 October 2004 Seven lessons at work today; I forgot to schedule in breaks for myself. I'll do that soon. I have a no-show now it seems. Had Makiko's level-up-test lesson; she got 93% correct; awesome! I showed her the first two lessons of GTS 4; she wanted to scope the book a bit, and I summarized the first two lessons' grammar. I told her I felt really honored by her choosing my lessons. Had Naotoshi, who had written a long section about the first 4 lessons in GTS 3. He started in GTS 1 I think. He's doing awesome work. I should do homework instead of writing about people who do homework. permalinkprev day next day |
