Entries this day: Bad_mood_again Class Good_stuff fahrenheit-911 Bad mood again 11:47am JST Wednesday 13 October 2004 I was coming out of my bad mood and working on my website when Hitomi called me again to explain in English that which I already understood; she wanted to be able to hear all my ranting last night but she couldn't because she doesn't understand English well enough yet. Okay, great, thank you; I appreciate it. But I already fucking knew that last night. I don't want to spend 15 minutes of me helping you explain to me that there is a language barrier. What is underlying this? We hung up the phone and I looked at the timer 21 minutes of saying *nothing* except for a bit at the end about upcoming movie tonight; let's just fucking move on. It's this fucking language barrier surrounding me that sucks so royally; I feel so trapped by it, perfectly able to escape and just give up, but I'm still here, 5 more months of excruciatingly slow English. Fuck I'm in a bad mood. I was telling janette last night, and she was telling me the same thing; tons of people are all like, "oh you're so great blahblahblah" and I'm like, fuckoff go be great yourself and then you'll be so great and it will be great. It's not great to have a bunch of people running around going you're so great. And it's not like there's more than a handful of people who are saying that, but ... something like those are apparently the people that I'm romantisexually attracted to cause it's my lovers who have been saying that shit. What is the bigger lesson here? - - - - Grrr fuck off. permalinkClass 5:21pm JST Wednesday 13 October 2004 Class with Sanami was fun; they now have a floor mat of that mushy colorful rubber mat stuff with different colorful shapes that are like puzzles. She was able to correctly identify colors like red, blue, black, white, pink and orange, but she couldn't consistently name yellow nor green. She remembered circle and square sometimes. She knew dog, airplane, horse, koala, but not rabbit. permalinkGood stuff 5:19pm JST Wednesday 13 October 2004 Okay, now I've gotten my code to check the timestamps and extensions of files to see which ones we should look at. The timestamp thing was working, but it took me a while to get a debug version of it working; I don't want to process every file every time while debugging, so I tried to subtract 1000 seconds from the last run time but it looked like it was running all the files since a few days ago... Turns out the subtract was inside a loop so it was being subtracted multiple times. D'oh. All good now. permalinkfahrenheit 911 10:10pm JST Wednesday 13 October 2004 I just saw Fahrenheit 9/11 with Misato. We had planned to see Motorcycle Diaries, and I wondered how it would affect my desire to ride across China. I had assumed it would increase my desire, and maybe give some good ideas. It was sold out, so we went for Michael Moore's movie. Now I don't want to go across China. I don't want to do anything. I'm just numb. If my stupid government is so hellbent on making money with Iraq's oil, how can I help stop them? Jesse just pointed out that Michael Moore has critics. Of course he does; so does every famous person. But somewhere in the middle is the truth. And next day 11:42am I was trying to make the point that though MichaelMoore has some antics, the documents he points out in the movie and the connection Bush has with the Saudis is really really really really spooky. Go see the movie and judge for yourself. And for God's sake, GO VOTE!! permalinkprev day next day |
