handspring keyboard!

15:30 JST 16 November 2004

This is my first journal entry written in Japan with my handspring visor and keyboard. I'm really happy that janette sent it! Only problem is the backspace key seems not to work. I can type pretty well, but I often enjoy a good backspace or two.

mimi bike

11:30pm Tuesday 16 November 2004

Took the train home to Motosumiyoshi and realized I had left Mimibike (my little green bike that I bought for 3000 yen from Louise) at Musashikosugi last night. Argh. I didn't want to risk leaving it *another* night, so I walked over there to get it.

On the way past Musashikosugi station, a woman came up to me, "massage? massage?" and I was like "no" and just walked by. Then I remembered the funny game of accepting and trying to give a massage to the woman.

Got to where I had left Mimibike and found a scooter. No Mimibike. I'm 90% sure this is where I locked her to the fence. The fence was not cut; my chain must have been cut, or my lock was picked.

Crapdogs.

I didn't kick anything, but I thought about it.

On the way back past the massage offering woman, she asked me again, "massage?" and I was like, "okay" and reached for her shoulders. She was like, "okay" and I massaged her for about 2 seconds before she turned around and said "thank you, now come inside, 3000 yen for half hour,"

And I just ignored her and was like, "私の自転車はどこですか。" and she said, "I don't know. Only 3000 yen and you will feel better."

"no no no; it will cost me 3000 yen to get it back; I ain't got no money."

I told Hitomi that if she could get Mimibike back, she could have her. (Hitomi could have Mimibike)

not tables, knot boards!

1:19am JST Wednesday 17 November 2004

Wow. Riki just gave me three (so far, four total once he moves out) knot boards that I imagine I could sell for several yen. Several dollars even. He says they're from Holland, and his grampa had them.

He said they were tables, but I searched a bit online and found they are commonly called "knot boards," available new between $84 and $119 for big size and around $40 - $50 for medium size. Or so. I'll see if I can find a market for them in Tokyo.

sk8 adventures

3:41am JST Wednesday 17 November 2004

I've renamed all my wild skating adventures that were in ~/skate/ into ~/journal/ subdirectories. Have custom 404 refreshes for all of them so people who find the links via google will go to the corresponding entry in my journal directory.

This is a step toward getting everything in my site auto-indexed.

It's really cold and I'm really hungry, but I *think* I can resist going outside to get strawberry pudding, which is just what part of my brain wants for brain candy.
