Entries this day: State_of_PC_storage Visa_research bike_back dinner first_lesson_with_Takako hitomi nihongo State of PC storage 1:12pm JST Thursday 18 November 2004 Seagate Ships World's Largest HD How does 400GB in your PC sound? November 17, 2004 Seagate Technology today announced that it has shipped the world's largest PC hard drive to various retail outlets. The Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 hard drive is now available in a 400GB variant, plenty enough for all your por-, err, data. The drive is also first to store 133GB in a single disc platter, with three making up the drive. The dense discs allow Seagate to use less discs and less heads to make up the total capacity of the drive, making for faster performance and reliability. The Barracuda 7200.8 uses Seagate's native Serial ATA interface technology with NCQ (native command queuing) for speeds that rival a 10,000-rpm SATA drive.permalink Visa research 2:22pm JST Thursday 18 November 2004 Wow. The Chinese embassy is open until noon each day. How the hell do hardworking Japanese cats get visas to China? I'll zip over there in the AM on Wednesday. Or maybe I can just do it from Sapporo, at which time I'll be closer to ready to go over. But I should get it done while it's important and not urgent. permalinkbike back 6:10pm JST Thursday 18 November 2004 Got Mimibike back. 2500 yen as Hitomi predicted. She sent me a map to the location. (I knew of this bike place, but I didn't know the name.) permalinkdinner 6:13pm JST Thursday 18 November 2004 Bought eggs, mushrooms, sausage, spinach and made a 5 egg omlette including the above mentioned goodies. Ate about half of it and have the rest in storage. Jackie was friendly to me, which was nice; I quit talking to her after she was meaner than usual a couple weeks ago. I think it must have been a short term thing. Now I'm headed to Shibuya to teach Takako and then meet Hitomi. permalinkfirst lesson with Takako 11:55pm JST Thursday 18 November 2004 First lesson with Takako went well; she was on time, thought she said she got lost. getting to Starbucks. The lesson went slowly at first; the first 7 minutes took 20 minutes, but then she asked me some more interesting questions and it went rather well after taht. The rest of the hour lesson took like 30 minutes it seemed. Ayana texted me druing the lesson; she wants to meet at 12:pm tomorrow instead of 10am. Cool with me; I hate getting up so early. Maybe I'll get some studying done before the lesson. Hitomi was in Starbucks after that, so we hung out after the lesson. permalinkhitomi 12:01am JST Friday 19 November 2004 Hung out with Hitomi after lesson with Takako. We chowed at a kaiten sushi place and then tried to get ice cream at Haagen Dazs, but it was closed. The other nearby ice cream place was similarly closed, except its sign said the open hours were until 10:30, and it was only 10:16 by my clock. yarg. We went back to Shibuya station and chilled on a ledge (by a cold window, hence the chilling) and she gave me a lovely tea mug with a 2005 calendar on it, and some sweets and some othe sweets; yummy yummy! We talked about us and stuff and what boundaries are okay, and I was impressed with her ability to resist. It seems she isn't a little helpless neko at all. We'll probably hang out on Saturday the 27th with Teddybear Tomoko, and if not, then we may visit camping supply stores in Tokyo. It would be cool to start getting some of my campiing stuff together. The bags for TJ Bike should be here within a week. We moved to an empty picture booth (as opposed to all the full ones around, right?) and chatted more. I think I understand her, but not 100% sure on that. Said bye. Somehow we said bye and are going to our separate homes. permalinknihongo 12:13am JST Friday 19 November - - - - 湯飲み = ゆのみ = cup for green tea permalinkprev day next day |
