Entries this day: AM_Daniel Kaki_nihongo Museums Work shibuya AM Daniel 9:13am JST Tuesday 30 November 2004 Daniel is up early, and I'm gonna just get up so we can hang out on his second to last day. I gots to work at 4pm to 10pm. Yesterday, I closed my 10pm - 10:40pm lesson cause it was empty. 11:03am Wow. We headed out and saw a guy cutting persimmons (sp) from the tree in his yard. Daniel commented that it was cool and the guy straightup gave us each a persimmon. Awesome! Then the dude was like, [why don't you climb the tree?] and I was like, awesome and [is it okay?] It was okay, and I went up onto his roof and cut three fruits, with the full intention of giving them to the guy, but he insisted three times that we have them. Awesome. ![]() ![]() I think I'll write him a note of thanks. Later, I was like, "well, the dude has a fruit tree and fruits are falling, rotting on the ground; he's got to get rid of them somehow." We took them back to my room and now we're heading toward museums in Ebisu. permalinkKaki nihongo permalinkMuseums 3:14pm JST Tuesday 30 November 2004 Went to Tokyo Photography Museum near Ebis with Daniel. The coolest thing was not aphotograph, but a sound wave visualizer that had little syrofoam beads in a horizontal plastic tube and a speaker box at one end. The speaker played tones and the styrofoam beads danced around in the low pressure zones of the rarefactions (sp) of the sound waves. Awesome cool! I got a video of it which I may put on here. permalinkWork 10:09pm JST Tuesday 30 November 2004 Had 7 lessons tonight, all of which were decent to good. One set of contact info given to Mieko. Had Naotoshi for two lessons; he's doing *so* *well* due to his continuous hard efforts at studying. I think he's catching up and surpassing my Japanese ability. Man. I gots ta study! Hitomi called me during the 5 minute break after my second to last lesson and said she had printed a lot of stuff for Hakone for me and Daniel. Oh my gosh how awesome! So I ran downstairs and grabbed it and was about to run back, but thanked her again and gave her a kiss on the hand and then ran back. Wow; how awesome! permalinkshibuya 1:04am JST Wednesday 1 December 2004 Went to Shibuya with Daniel after my work tonight. He had met a guy, or the guy had met him, wanting to find English speaking friends. We asked him where we could find yamamba girls, and we ended up in Harajuku, but none were in sight. Daniel did get a picture of some cats and of some girls' huge rings. Our friend told us that costume-play people gather in the area on holidays. That's a bonus bit of information. Walked back to Shibuya area, and our friend bowed out on the way back. Found a much more happenin' area and got some pictures of people both with and without consent. Jen calls them monsters, but I call them cute. - - - - Here are other pictures from that adventure: permalinkprev day next day |
