Entries this day: Hakone_kids_net Homeward_bound Sushi study Hakone kids net 2:14pm JST Wednesday 1 December 2004 Well, I'll tell ya, pilgrim, I had plenty of tumbles and nary a scratch while flipping and climbing around in the huge kids net hammock, but I strained my back getting up from the main attraction of My Sky Chair. The net thing is like a manifestation of the best hammock in the world, with holes to climb through to the next level, but offset to keep a fall from being tragic. Daniel and I had the run (and climb and tumble) of the place for quite a while, getting videos of us tumbling, and all kinds of silliness. I ran out of memorycard space before being able to record while holding the camera and tumbling, which probably would be pretty entertaining, but it's hard to tell. I determined I would be so strong if I lived in/on such a climbtastic hammock; it was just energizingly fun to tumble around. There are little bed sized hammocks from which one could not fall at night; man it would be tooootally great! 2:13pm JST Monday 27 December 2004 Update: I have just finished the video! monkeys.notlong.com permalinkHomeward bound 5:43pm JST Wednesday 1 December 2004 Interesting that I call Motosumiyoshi home and only upon second thought think about Texas (Dallas, then Houston) and stuff. Daniel took about one million pictures while we were on the ropeway and hanging cable car. He filled his 1Gig memory card in the process. So he switched to his other 1Gig card. We arrived too late to take the boat over the lake, so we headed back by bus to Odawara station. Slept in the back a lot of the way. Daniel had never taken the shinkansen before, so we are on that now to go back. Awesome. - - - - This is the shinkansen ride during which, upon looking for the toilet, I found one locked, then found the next one (, a urinal only (with a window looking in on it (to see the empty urinal or some guy's back))) available. On the way back to my seat, I figured out how to open the other door. It hadn't been locked; there are [OPEN] and [CLOSE] buttons that had blended in with the wall so I didn't see them before. I pushed [OPEN] for fun, and there was a woman inside. Damn. I pushed [CLOSE], but it wouldn't close as fast as I wanted it to (and I'm sure it took much longer than she wanted it to.) Nightmare. I guess she hadn't locked it from the inside. The lock must have blended in. - - - - The shinkansen is faster that the Tokaido line. Way faster. permalinkSushi 12:27pm JST Thursday 2 December 2004 Daniel and I went to kaiten sushi after we arrived back in Motosumiyoshi. The train was carrying plates around the bar, but the plates were not carrying sushi. I was like, "no no,put the plate over there" so it would be like kaiten sushi, instead of him just handing me the plate. He had to tell the guys in the back not to toss the sushi. Some crazy foreigner wants his sushi to ride the train. Funny. permalinkstudy 12:20pm JST Thursday 2 December 2004 Studied with Hitomi last night at Saizeria. It's definitely less expensive than Jonathon's. I wrote a page about Hakone with Daniel, first really detailed with high level grammar, and then really broad with easier grammar. We rode Mimibike there and back. On the way back, Hitomi went over the pedestrian bridge over the tracks before I did. I was really surprised to not find her waiting for me at the bottom. She had run run run way ahead in some random burst of energy. I was like, "holy shit!" and sped after her. She turned a corner before I did, and when I arrived she had her leg and thumb out like, "hey baby, ya gotta ride for me?" It was funny. I was really happy to see her doing some random stuff. permalinkprev day next day |
