Lesson

3:25pm JST Friday 31 December 2004

Woke up around 10am and basically had to go immediately to my Japanese lesson in Shibuya. Got there right at 11am (with pizzaman for breakfast and hot cocoa for drinkage) and listened to Ogura Kei a bit on my CD player.

For the entire 1.5 hours, I worked to tell Ayana the story about going to Universal Studios Japan and Expoland and then me-an-Hitomi's breakup story. I was feeling a bit sad after that, but was okay enough to show Ayana the stuff I had written in Japanese during the 2 weeks.

New Years Eve snow

3:34pm JST Friday 31 December 2004

During the lesson, little bitty flurries of snow began to snow. They waned and then waxed when it was time for Ayana to go. I stayed; I didn't want to go out in the snow (unless there was a ton of snow), and it was a good chance for me to study. I re-wrote a page and wrote a new page about the day, during which time I took a bunch of pictures of the surroundings getting progressively snowier.

For all the pictures below, the last four digits of the filenames are the 24-hour timestamp from when they were taken.

Looking across the street from the second floor in the Starbucks where I study. Pictures are from about an hour apart.

Looking left out the window from the second floor of the Starbucks. Pictures are from about an hour apart.

Took a few pictures from the pedestrian bridge between Shibuya station and my Starbucks.

Took some around Shibuya Hachiko area. Saw some women in ridiculous high heels and fishnet stockings. No yamamba.

On the way home, I was in the front of the train and got several pics.

This is looking out through the front before we left Shibuya station on the Tokyu Toyoko line.

This is looking out from Nakameguro station.

As we crossed Tamagawa.

Ran out of space on my camera upon arrival at Musashikosugi, but by then the snow had turned to rain and the whole mess turned to slush on the ground. If this shit freezes tonight, I imagine we'll have a messy day tomorrow.

Rune for today

3:49pm JST Friday 31 December 2004

I just selected Jera again.

A Rune of beneficial outcomes, Jera applies to any activity or endeavor to which you are commmitted. Be aware, however, that no quick results can be expected. A span of time is usually involved; hence the key words "One Year," symbolizing a full cycle before the reaping, the harvest or deliverance.

You have prepared the ground and planted the seed. Now you must cultivate with care. To those whose labor has a long season, a long coming to term, Jera offers encouragement of success. Know that the outcome is in the keeping of Providence and continue to persevere.

I fell asleep through basically both of them. I had the volume turned down all the way to the lowest not-off setting. I think I'll try it louder from now on.

How is it that the CDs are still going? It seems like a really long time for a CD to be on.

8:01pm

The CD just ended. 8:01 - 6:49 = 1:12. Okay, that's not too long for a CD.

Watched some Pride fighting on TV. I don't really see what people see in it. Combination wrestling, boxing, kickboxing, etc - depending on the sport the different fighters are from. Dean and his girlfriend Shoko like it.

When they left, Noriko and I watched the end of Charlie's Angels 2, and then some other random crap until she found Lenny Kravitz at some Tokyo rock festival recorded in the summer. I can't be bothered to stay up for New Years. It's not the same without loved ones.

Nice one. Temperature is at 17 C now. I stayed awake during the entire exercise, and I felt my hands a bit vibrational when I visualized them extending to my heater. They felt warm during Focus 12 again, so I thought of the idea of moving them toward slash into the heater.

I didn't feel them move but a twitch, really.

My brain was wide wide awake and my body was as close to sleeping as it's ever been when my brain was so awake. My breathing was sleep breathing as far as I know, and for brief moments, I dreamt.
