Entries this day: AAM AM_shower Almost_noon_dream Before_food Call_in_sick Can_time_go_faster_please Doctor Doctor_waitin Done Explain_to_Satoko Food Good_night AAM 4:07am JST Friday 28 January 2005 If I write a book about my Japanese experience, I think I will call it How not to learn Japanese. 5:38am Right now my temperature is 36.7 C Swallowing doesn't hurt my throat quite as much. I wonder if those tablets helped. Sinus and lungs are clear. Inner ears hurt a little bit. permalinkAM shower 7:20am JST Friday 28 January 2005 I took the next tablet that Jackie suggested; swallowing hurts like a pinecone. Wrote a journal entry in my mind about taking a long shower. I actually did take the shower, but then nearly fell asleep not having written this awesome entry. Brain is hot. Maybe my shower was too hot. I hope I live. permalinkAlmost noon dream 11:45am JST Friday 28 January 2005 I've made it this far. I turned my heater off and seem to have cooled down to a more normal temperature. My throat still super hurts to swallow. Argh. I've been sleeping for the past several hours, dreaming about talking to Jen. She asked me if I would help her go to work. I didn't answer her a couple times, not because I didn't hear her, but because I didn't understand what she was asking; her language had been vague. I turned the TV off and said, "now what is this question you've been trying to ask me?" "If I wasn't awake in the morning, would you wake me up before work?" If I knew you were in your room, I would tap very lightly like this, (tap) (tap) "jen, are you awake?" permalinkBefore food 1:03pm JST Friday 28 January 2005 I just got back from buying two things of ramen and two liters of oranje juice. and a bit of pudding for comfort food. Temperature is 37.3 C permalinkCall in sick 1:53pm JST Friday 28 January 2005 I just called and asked Iwanosan to cancel my remaining two lessons today. Akiko closed some yesterday and I just don't seem to be getting better enough to do these two today. The lessons were to be with Mieko and Kenzo, two of my favorite students. And I don't often get to chat with Mieko. I told Iwanosan "tell them I can reschedule a time just for them," but that didn't compute and he didn't understand. I didn't feel like explaining it; "yes, just cancel them." Fuck. permalinkCan time go faster please 3:18pm JST Friday 28 January 2005 Ugh. Time is not going quickly enough for me. Oh man I could still make it to work on time. It (time) is worse than I thought. Miserable throat. Can I get my tonsils taken out? I really want to go to a doctor. permalinkDoctor 3:31pm JST Friday 28 January 2005 I've found a clinic, ironically next to Gaba. I'm going now. permalinkDoctor waitin 4:03pm JST Friday 28 January 2005 Have arrived. Six people already in the small waiting room. Mostly grandmas. permalinkDone 5:57pm JST Friday 28 January 2005 I'm back from the doctor. He said I have tonsilitis. He guessed I would be better in about a week, and if I had to go to work, I could, but it would be better not to. He gave me ibuprofen (100mg) for pain, which Jackie had given me, and Augmentin (no mg indicated) for infection, which Jackie had not given me, but no pseudoephedrin HCl, which Jackie had given me. I'm supposed to take 2 of each tablet three times a day with food, though it hurts like eating sandpaper to swallow, even with my accomplished chewing skills. I plan not to go to OM tomorrow and I called Gaba to have them close all my non-blue lessons. I have *seven* blue lessons on Monday and four on Tuesday. Hopefully I will be genki by then. The receptionist at Gaba, near the end of our conversation, during which I asked her to close non-blue lessons on Monday and Tuesday (both days for which she had to ask the manager) and gave the reason as tonsilitis, which she didn't understand, and "when I talk I want to cry," asked me if I was okay. No. I am not okay. She seemed surprised and hung up quickly. permalinkExplain to Satoko 6:46pm JST Friday 28 January 2005 I called Satoko and told her I couldn't go to the show tomorrow, which, ironically is the show that caused me to write my entry titled "Oh my god what a night" a few days ago. Shoko explained to Satoko where the place was and all that kinda stuff. Peraperapera Nihongo. permalinkFood 7:22pm JST Friday 28 January 2005 Hitomi brought me food. Chicken soup, broccoli soup, pudding, strawberries, and some others that I can't identify in English nor Japanese. My temperature is 38.1 C permalinkGood night 9:19pm JST Friday 28 January 2005 Okay; I've eaten and talked to Hitomi a bit. Didn't really talk much, not that it hurts to talk, but it feels like it would hurt to talk. Going to try to sleep now. permalink |
