Entries this day: Gaba Office,The Sleepy_Dan Work silent_football Gaba 2:32pm JST Friday 04 March 2005 Only 1 (one) lesson at Gaba today. At 9:15pm. The student chose me, but I don't know yet who it is; from home, I can only see that I've been chosen, but I can't see who chose me. Because I'm using the Perl CGI object to make my forms, it was nearly trivial to add hidden fields and have those be used instead of cookies. I didn't change any parameter-retrieving or setting code; I just added the hidden fields to each form and they are automagically populated with the like-named cgi variables. Perl rules. permalinkOffice,The 4:51pm JST Friday 04 March 2005 In Jen's room, Dan had his computer and we watched The Office, a two part thing about The Office, a documentary about an office that was broadcast on BBC 2, according to The Office. It was pretty funny and I felt sorry for the dumpy David guy. Dan told me a bit about the history of the show. permalinkSleepy Dan 4:54pm JST Friday 04 March 2005 I came up to my room after saying HI to Shoko and found Dan in my bed. He was *just* almost set up for a hilarious joke. He planned to be pretend-sleeping and wake up all groggily and say, "hey mate, what you been up to?" knowing full well that we just finished watching The Office together. Funny!!!! permalinkWork 4:56pm JST Friday 04 March 2005 Wow! Kick ass; I checked my Gaba schedule and I now have three lessons, 300% more than I had a few hours ago. And two of the students chose me, so they can't be removed at the whim of my manager, who sometimes moves people around for various reasons. permalinksilent football 10:54pm JST Friday 04 March 2005 Tonight is Silent Football night at Millenium House! I wrote a note up on the whiteboard (that "everyone" uses to make general announcements) and a URL to the rules and invited a few people to play. Everyone I spoke with had other things planned. I guessed that at least Jen and Olivia would want to play; we had big fun when we played in the past and when I've mentioned it to Jen during our OM adventures, she has said, "yeah!" or something similarly encouraging. I'm learning something about advertising and starting new traditions. No one but me has come to play. That's okay; I didn't bring an alcoholic beverage, assuming no one else would play, and if they did, that I never specified it was an British alcohol drinking game, but just a British drinking game. Also it's okay, because I don't really want to play with people who have to be coerced into playing. I want the SWD YRUU Rally version of Silent Football. But no one else here has been in YRUU. For this occassion, I'm wearing my YRUU hoodie, black SWD YRUU in blue writing and YRUU chalice on the back. permalinkprev day next day |
