Entries this day: Dream Sally_Kelly_bye-bye pm Dream 10:25am JST Tuesday 05 April 2005 Spent the night camping in a large department store. I had apparently arrived the previous night by bicycle, for when I woke up, my bicycle was near on of the registers. However, I noted that it's tires had been removed! I saw some employees near my bike; they had a cart full of innertubes and tires. I assumed they must at least know what happened; maybe they stole them, and I went digging through their cart as if looking for new tires, but also looking for my old tires. I just kept thinking that someone must know; for god's sakes I was here last night when the store closed! Yargh!! I was so upset I was like, "すみません!" shouting for help in Japanese, but no one came before I saw Michael from Gaba. I was like, "Michael!" but he also didn't respond. I recognized something was a bit weird and realized it must be a dream so I woke up. permalinkSally Kelly bye bye 4:13pm JST Tuesday 05 April 2005 Went to Narita with Sally and Kelly and Satoko to say bye to them at the airport. Kelly talked to Satoko the whole way and was all nervous about the time. I was talking to Sally who was showing me pictures and not worred about time at all. Like, "we got plenty of time!" ... that was pretty funny. 7:02pm JST Tuesday 05 April 2005 Satoko and I wandered around Ueno park, where I got a 500 yen palm reading thing. The computerized printout rang less true than what Satoko translated for me that the guy said. (Winner: worst grammar ever!) The guy was all, "wakkawakkawakka" in Japanese as he looked at my hand. Satoko translated for me and I was like, "yeah; I like that:" ("he said, you like to do things alone, and when you do something that you like, it's good.") Awesome. Sounds like a really short version of what Richard Unger told me at our first palm reading thing. Kelly bought a USB cable that she doesn't need so she gave it to me. I'm going to take it back to the shop in Shibuya to get the firewire cable that I need for my video camera. permalinkpm 9:11pm JST Tuesday 05 April 2005 Hung out a bit in Shibuya to chow and then exchanged the cable at Sakuraya. The guy asked if I had the credit card, but I was like nope. but since the cable I wanted was more expensive, he let me do the exchange without presenting the credit card. Or maybe he just let me do it for no particular reason. I went to the video camera section to get a bag for my camera, but the CANON brand bag had a wussy zipper and was 3000 yen more than it should have been. I was like, "man this zipper is weak" and the guy was like, "yah" and I was like, "man if this zipper were stronger I would buy it." and the guy was like "yah" and Finally Satoko was like, "can you show us some other bags?" Obviously the dude does not get paid on commission. He brught out three other bags and I slected one of them which was only like 1600 yen (instead of 4600 yen) and was like, "hey man, can I open it?" and he was like, "no" and I was like "hey man, if I buy it and I don't like it, can I bring it back?" and he was like, "no" and then I was like, "will the camera fit?" he was like "yeah" and to prove it he got a tape measure to measure it. And sure enough it seemed that it would fit (barely) according to the dimensions printed on the case cover thing. I was satisfied that it would work, so I bought it and immediately opened the wrapper and took out the case. I was able to open the wrapper with zero rippage; it was taped closed with reusable tape and it was just fine so I don't know what the big deal was. But I put the camera in its new case and put the wrapper neatly on the counter and everything was allll gooood. Headed home now. permalink |
