Chatting

11:56am AKDT Tuesday 16 August 2005

I am supposed to meet Hitomi for an hour.

1:16pm AKDT Tuesday 16 August 2005

The beginning of our chat was a bit rough cause I she acted surprised that I came despite her shenanigans. I had seen Hitomi at the immigration thing in Broadway before we arrive in Alaska.

We went to Yacht Club and I joked about counting whales in Japanese. Naho hasn't seen whales yet, but really wants to. She is so cute!

Drink line

3:45pm AKDT Tuesday 16 August 2005

Katt and I went to Yacht Club for teatime and there was a long ass line going all the way out the door and down the stairs. I hypothesized that the little snacks given at teatime couldn't have suddenly become *that* popular, so I bypassed the line to see what was up. People were queued to get cups of whiskey coffee. Absolutely unbelievable what things are popular in various cultures. I hate coffee and I hate whiskey, so I did not join the line.

George Meegan

6pm AKDT Tuesday 16 August 2005

We are in the all-English session with George Meegan. He seems impressed that most of us quit our jobs to join P.B.

He showed us his tattoo.

His stories inspire and amaze. Check him out if you can.

8pm AKDT Tuesday 16 August 2005

We were interrupted by whale sightings several times, and most of them were boring: Way off in the distance, we see a little bit of spray and then watch the spine slowly slide by and then the tail flips up and shoops straight down and the whale is gone. Well, underwater.

BUT, one time we were all climbing on couches with noses pressed against the windows and this whale JUMPED out of the water did a half turn and kerspalooshed into the water!! Yah - that was cool.

I quite enjoyed the English session with George Meegan, and at one point I wasn't following him at all, but he definitely has some spirit and ideas that I may or may not understand.

Saw a bunch of whales, but the one that jumped well out of the water was definitely the star of the show.

Got ready for classes tomorrow: Cheerful Dancing Fellows should be easy; they are working on their speeches. However, Happy Wonderful Shy Girls are another story; they don't all have speeches, so I printed out a little lesson on Saying Goodbye; we are down to near the end dawg; this is nearly it.

I'm going to apply for 52 and for 54. Apparently the third voyage for teachers means we actually get paid. Paige told me. I don't remember how much, but still.
