Massage chairs

12:45pm JST Friday 30 September 2005

Hitomi and I are at ヨドバシカメラ using the foot massage machines. They're okay, but the seat is a bit too short for me.

Before that, I was in a massaging recliner for forty-five minutes, during which time I received three different massage treatments, though I didn't particularly notice any differences. They all rolled balls up my back and squooshed my footses and calves. After the first course, Hitomi noticed my arms were supposed to be inside the arm rests, where they got good squeezin's with air-filled bladders.

After the third round, during portions of which I was quite asleep, Hitomi suggested we move. I agreed (the sign in front of the chairs requested that we only stay 15 minutes), and was surprised to find fully 2/3rds of the chairs were full! When we started, I was the only person using any of the 14 chairs.

I wonder if they were inspired to try the chairs after seeing me blissfully zonked out in one. Hopefully one of those salarymen enjoyed the experience to buy a chair for about 430,000 yen ($4300). That will pay for my 45 minutes.

Okonomiyaki

1:25pm JST Friday 30 September 2005

Hitomi and I are at the okonomiyaki place on 8th floor of Kawasaki BE. This place reminds me of Miki, who I would dearly love to see, but seems to have changed her cellphone number. She never had an email address.

2:49pm

Lunch was fun; we joked around and pretty much had a good time. I didn't want to keep talking about variants of "what will you do with all your stuff?" because I just don't know yet what I have at Kellie's, nor what I need in Palestine. Too many variables and not enough data.

We laughed about how she often states the obvious and I always say 「本当だ」which I think means "wow, you're right!" but comes across more like, "no duh." permalink

Sunny Kawasaki

2:56pm JST Friday 30 September 2005

Got a picture of some funniness in Kawasaki Station. The weather is nice so the glass paneled dome roof things are open. The sun has a direct view of the ticket machines, and its bright glare disallow people from seeing what's on the screens without shade. So, station staff hold rather large cardboard shades to block the light. Oh my gosh what a job that would be.

We joked about how quickly I often try to go through the gates, disallowing the ticket thing to read my card. Should be able to run through screaming... IR tags could do it; not these silly close-up magnetic ones.

another Peanut Butter adventure!!

5:10pm JST Friday 30 September 2005

YAhooooooooo!!!!

I just talked to Matt who is in charge of selecting GET Teachers for the 52nd Voyage, and he has invited me as a repeating teacher!!

So so so awesome!

That means I will not be in Palestine for a super long time, but it will be long enough (I imagine) to know if I want to go back.

I am definitely looking forward to seeing how my finances enjoy this voyage - I haven't had a job in a long time, and it appears that I'm a bit less than 1/2 done not having a job..

Trusting the universe; releasing the outcome... these are my jobs now.

Wowzas.. I haven't heard of many of the places to which we'll be traveling!! Wow wow wow!!

itinerary

My estimated outlay for the next 5 months of volunteer work is $2000 more than I seem to have in the bank.. Donations via paypal are being accepted!!

I wonder if I could learn and make money as a dancer?

6:11pm JST Friday 30 September 2005

The interesting thing: it hasn't 100% hit me that I will be on the voyage, or for some reason I don't quite believe it. I walked with Natalie and Yuuka to the other P.B. office and we saw Rie there. .. She asked me if I would be on the 52nd (she well) and I didn't tell her yes, but I did tell her I am applying.

dinner pirori

12:53am JST Saturday 01 October 2005

Prori and I walked around Shibuya after chowing and chatting at the Mexican restaurant below TGI Fridays (that must have a forget-spell on its name because I never can remember it). Walked to Harajuku station and down that one street to see all the strange fashion.. Oh, that was fater we headed to the Apple Store to see if they had any extra C keys layng around. I lost mine in the great Dvorak Switch of '05.

In Apple Store two guys were performing Japanese Reggae to "their largest crowd ever," and we enjoyed their beats for about 20 minutes until the show ended.

Then Harajuku where we were surprised to find basically all the stores closed at 10pm on a Friday... Walked all the way down Aoyama street back to Shibuya (fortunately I recognized that my sense of direction was off and we asked a cop which way to go). Once I knew the answer, it became clear.

Into Shibuya area we scouted for a coffee shop that was still open. Instead, we came across two guys in a small dirt lot between huge brightly lit stores. They had two chairs, a small table, a computer and speakers, plus a projector showing images on the brick wall behind them.

How incredibly cool!!

Walked into the back entrance of Shibuya (Mark), which I had never previously done, and we *both* pushed on the fan looking things that absolutely looked liike they should rotate. We pushed at the same time, and laughed as it didn't rotate; we both had exactly the same response to the architecture.

Pirori got me hot-chocolate-no-wait-scratch-that-vanilla-cream-frappucino at Starbucks though they didn't have seating available for it was beomcing apparent that we were running out of coffee shops, and they all were disallowing seating.

We sat out in Hachiko Square away from most smokers while we chatted and froze ourselves from the inside with our drinks. Long long hugs when it was time to go.

Then she headed through the gate and the card didn't work. The guy fixed it and more hugs and then she was off.

See ya soon, Pirori!

The train from Shibuya was *packed* for the first leg (to Shin-jayama or some such name). It quickly got less packed with each stop.

power supply

1:08am JST Saturday 01 October 2005

I was like, "this is impossibly bad," which was supposed to mean something like, "this is so bad that it couldn't be true."

But it continues to appear true. I don't seem to have my power supply. I am sure I left it in P.B. office. I guess I will see Nat one more time before I go...
