Dream

8:23am JST Wednesday 28 December 2005

Way up on the 6th / 10th floor of a hotel / outdoor bridge with my friend at the bottom, I was tossing things down to him and he was throwing them back up. He threw my wallet back up, though I didn't notice until I threw it back down again that I had tossed it down at all. The second time I threw it down, he took everything out of it and made a digital copy of it, which he gave me on a memory card that looked just like a Tokyu Toyoko train card. He gave me the card, leaving the wallet on the desk, and I switched the card for my wallet. If the copy was "as good as the original," then he could have the copy. He was busy talking to some customer, and didn't make like he noticed the switch, but we were good enough friends that I knew he wouldn't mind, and I knew he knew I knew that he knew what I was thinking when I made the switch.

Previously, some people had thrown rocks off this bridge / side of the ship, but were unable to get them past the water. That's why I was really impressed when my friend threw things that same distance, but *UP* against the field of gravitational attraction.

Hello

10:48am JST Wednesday 28 December 2005

Took a bunch of pics up in Yacht Club of every individual teacher; Laura and I will use them for the GET Board thingie. Then pics for something that Phil is working on and then we spent a bit working on our performance that will go something like, "Hello / Hola / How are you? / Como estas? / GET!" that will go in an 8 beat rhythm.

Busted down to the rooms to get suited up and now to be presented to the Kobe passengers..

I'm wearing the shirt my lovely s-sister Alicia gave me for Christmas some years ago. Very thankful for that; I often get compliments on it. :-)

Study Chinese

12:30pm JST Wednesday 28 December 2005

Met ひさえ at lunch today; she and her husband were pretty talkative; he spoke English pretty well; she apparently speaks Mandarin pretty well, so she and I will hook up an English-Chinese exchange!

Their room is on the 7th floor near the front of the ship.

One of the three others sitting at the table said in Japanese that she wanted to talk to me, but was nervous about not knowing English. I was like, [naw naw it's all good, jack] and proceeded to pull out Francois and told them the story, hoping that my being silly would put her at ease... She stopped listening and talked with someone else at the table. Funny.

The life-boat drill was fun; I brought my book to read.

Kellie used my camera to take a few pics of people in their life preservers. I haven't taken many pictures with my camera...

7:23pm JST Wednesday 28 December 2005

We were all dressed up for the Formal Thingamajig and now the Formal Dinner. At the thingamajig there was a band and the captain presented all his officers and we clapped and made jokes and it was great. A woman named かな asked if she could sit next to me and Maruan, which was definitely cool with me, and actually a bit surprising, but I guess it's a natural extension from someone who jumped on this voyage alone.

Also met あさみ, who is also on a solo adventure.

On our way out of the room, we met のん、さち、and いしこ. Ishiko has purple hair. I didn't have enough time to memorize distinguishing features of the first two.

9:09pm JST Wednesday 28 December 2005

Was supposed to chow with Kana, but I musta taken too long on the above entry. Ah well. Was back up there before 7:30 by my watch, but people had already started to go in.

I sat between Kellie and Sachie. The restaurant was packed with peeps, so food took a while to come out, but everything was quite yum. I would have preferred the vegetarian meal, I believe, but I enjoyed the steak even so. Also enjoyed three pieces of cake at the end. Maybe four. People were pretty amazed at the amount of sugar I chewed through, saying it was my alcohol. Probably true.

Met one of the waiters at the end (who had given Kellie milk this morning after all the others said it was imposserous) cause Kellie wanted to get his name. We got it, but I've forgotten it (though I'm writing this at 12:16am...)

12:12am JST Thursday 29 December 2005

I took some time for myself after dinner: showered, hand-washed my socks and underwear and T-shirt. Glad to get that stuff out of the way. Then flossed and brushed my teeth before going to 345 where the party was being held in a rather happy and loud manner. I enjoyed listening to Petra and Carla's conversation; Petra sat in my lap while she told Carla about her family, and I scritched Petra's back. Carla told the unbelievable pingpong ball story from Thailand; I've got to see that show to believe it. It's just tooooo outrageous.

We rolled upstairs around 10:30pm (and I was really glad cause I thought we were quite too loud and didn't want us to get in trouble before the first port, even). I piggy-backed Karen from the third floor to the sixth floor where some passengers were, so she hopped down. Down the main hall on 7th floor, and I poked my head into the sports bar; it was completely packed with people (mostly teenage girls) doing some ghetto version of a game show thing. I watche for about 30 seconds and then busted out.

Tapped lightly on Rie's door (in case anyone was sleeping) and chatted with her; she told me about a multilevel business she's in that actually funded her ticket for this trip!! Or was it the other thing? Anyway, she said she would tell me about it after the voyage. Nice. We went upstairs to see stars, but there were none bright enough in the visible light spectrum for us to see (ie. it was cloudy and nighttime) and quickly came back downstairs to play Pente, just like old times.

She won two games and I won one. Man, she's good!

I'm going to sleep now, like a good GET T should.
