Entries this day: Carl-C_and_Tony-T_rap_workshop Fantastic_Rabbits Morning Noonish all_English_with_Lee_Hirsch give_me_sex! planning_Charity_Auction planning_lessons pm_Phil Carl C and Tony T rap workshop 3:43pm EAT Saturday 21 January 2006 The Rap workshop hosted by Carl C and Tony T was off the hizzy!! Fuckin' really impressed with how well it went! I came in late and quickly tried to think of some rhymes cause they were having people come up to the front and spit some lyrics. I came up with My name is Rob; just give me a chance-a put me in the Sports Bar, I am a good dancea- if you ask me a question, I always know the answa but how you gonna know me, because I have Francois! Carl glanced over at me for just an instant that asked if I wanted to perform onstage, and I nodded just enough for him to see. It's cool to be on the same wavelength with people. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Fantastic Rabbits 10:53am EAT Saturday 21 January 2006 Good class today! George and Angelina were not there, but we had fun even so. Tamami is sick, and Koji is in Tanzania. Alice taught us about viruses, and we spent a lot of time on that vocabulary. We can use it for HIV discussions around South Africa. permalinkMorning 10:54am EAT Saturday 21 January 2006 Pretty crazy tired this morning, but took a bit of a nap after class. - - - - Now going to the GET Open to participate as a student and see what the previous guys have been doing with the Opens. permalinkNoonish 2:58pm EAT Saturday 21 January 2006 Pretty good day today in Fighting Goats; we had 5 people do show-n-tell, which they really seem to enjoy. We practiced the games for GET Language Olympics, and they did well with them, especially charades! I quickly checked Ann and Eye's diaries and returned the books to their rooms. I just sorted out a schedule for open lessons for next term, to be covered by me, Carl, Maruan, Liz and Kellie. I can see how managing schedules as a job would be a bit of a pain. Now I'm going to whiz, then zip up to Yacht Club to get a snack, then to Carl and Tony's rap workshop, then to Chat With; I'm covering for Nick, who covered for me recently. permalinkall English with Lee Hirsch 8:51pm EAT Saturday 21 January 2006 Had an all-English session with Lee Hirsch today. I summarize it as, "I knew I had to do the project; I kept going no matter how hard it became; I encourage everyone to know they can do whatever they want if they want it enough." permalinkgive me sex! 8:53pm EAT Saturday 21 January 2006 Today was Lisa's birthday, and we recruited the Zola Youth Choir singers to help us with a killa version of Happy Birthday, with echo harmonies and such. We sang a normal fast version first, then the echo version, then in Italian, then in Spanish, and then Lee led the rockin' Happy Birthday version that just keeps repeating those two words. Maruan told us about The Game, which we are always playing, but the object of the game is to forget we are playing. If we remember we are playing, we have to remind everyone that everyone is playing. The person who forgets the longest is the winner. Carl then told us about The Penis Game, where everyone takes turns saying something louder than the person before, and the first person who doesn't say it louder is a penis. I wouldn't be surprised if we get in a bit of trouble for screaming "Give Me Sex!" permalinkplanning Charity Auction 12:17am EAT Sunday 22 January 2006 Tonight I helped Matt a bit with the Charity Auction planning; it looks like it will bring in a pile of money as different parts of the ship are getting involved. We had a meeting with Maiko, Hiromi, and Ai, who are in charge of various departments and hashed out what needs to be done. It was interesting to go through that meeting and actually have very little on my to-do list to show for it. Just write up a couple of descriptions of charity auction items. I believe other people are just doing the bulk of the work moreso than the work seems less when evenly divided. I liked working with them; I've wanted to get more involved and become more integral. Plus it helps me learn peoples' names. permalinkplanning lessons 1:18am EAT Sunday 22 January 2006 I was just about to go to bed at 12am when I realized I hadn't done my curriculum slash gotten ready for classes tomorrow. Ooops! Went upstairs to knock that out, and now it's time for bed bed bed. permalinkpm Phil 1:15am EAT Sunday 22 January 2006 Just talked to Phil as he did his arm exercises as part of his recovery from a shoulder injury that wasn't treated properly when it first happened. He asked if I plan to show pictures on Palestine, and we talked about it a bit. I definitely feel some fear about doing it.. basically based on my not knowing a lot about the issues. When I've told people I just know it's fucked up, they say, "well, everyone knows that!" so I'm wondering what more I know and what I have to share.... permalinkprev day next day |
