Entries this day: Dream Fantastic_Rabbits Fantastic_Rocking Fighting_Goats Kiichi Port_orientation Third_date code rei yay_for_phil Dream 6:56am SAST Tuesday 24 January 2006 First dream We were sailing in some incredible waves that were getting taller than the ship, and crashing down like over the front deck. We were surfing like down with a tube of waves on either side of the ship as we went down along this hill. ------------- On the ship with several Japanese passengers and some valley girls, we were like totally having lunch, and I thought we should play some silent football, so I was like, "okay, let's play silent football" and people were keen, including Laura of the current GET Team, sitting across from me. Other people were asking questions before I even started explaning the rules, but asking about specific rules slash, "I've played before, but I don't remember what a gopher is." and I was like, "acknowledged; we will hear all the rules now," if you will just stop asking questions.. I started to explain the rules, but realized we had a much coooler thing to watch: our spaceship car was flying down a mountain, crashing through fences and other obstacles with ease. We had a professional driver and I stopped explaining the rules, but was like, "this looks much more interesting, but I still want to play silent football when we are done!" The driver was also tour guide and he commentted that there were so few species left from this park, where we had intrdoduced lots of dinosaurs like Jurrassica Park. permalinkFantastic Rabbits 9:45am SAST Tuesday 24 January 2006 Good class today; Angelina talked about her 3 week stay in Santa Monica, __(i_forgot)__, and Las Vegas. I made sure to praise her for having gone alone, and overcoming obstacles to make her trip a reality. Then I gave a few suggestions on correcting English for her stories and for questions that the rest of the Rabbits asked. That took up a full hour, which is well-more than I expected, so we didn't have all that much time for Carol to give her tour of the ship, which, fantastically enough, introduced a new convenient stairway of which I had previously been unaware. Nice. permalinkFantastic Rocking 10:02am SAST Tuesday 24 January 2006 The ship is rocking pretty nicely. I've enjoyed the occassional oscillations that can't be easily ignored. All around me as I sit, the walls are creaking and doors open and close on their own, but we certainly haven't had any of the ship shuddering waves that Stacy was talking about from previous voyages. I do truly hope we get those. I think it would *rule*. Speaking of things that rule, I have a bit of free time, and plan to use it for getting pictures on my site more efficiently. permalinkFighting Goats 1:54pm SAST Tuesday 24 January 2006 Pretty fun lesson with Fighting Goats; I hope they enjoyed it. We went to top deck to hear Carol play saxophone for a bit, and I made them treat it as if they were in a jazz bar meeting each other. This is a simple task I believe, and they were able to do it, but didn't really extend or expand that I noticed. permalinkKiichi 2:56pm SAST Tuesday 24 January 2006 Met Kiichi today; he works closely with the computers onboard and has apparently unmetered internet access. Hmmmmm. We will be meeting throughout the voyage as I help him with English. permalinkPort orientation 6:58pm SAST Tuesday 24 January 2006 Carl did a funny thing with his port orientation information today by making certain letters bold, which read together as "if you are reading this, please start clapping." I definitely want to one-up him on that, though I must give him kudos to the original idea. I considered writing a fixed width font auto-justifying port orientation, and then a message within that, but I'd be bordering on creating a masterpiece, which I don't really have time to do. permalinkThird date 7:01pm SAST Tuesday 24 January 2006 I talked to Carla who said Yuki probably can't join our third triple date. Pooh. Maybe we can invite her to brownies at Hemingway. permalinkcode 7:02pm SAST Tuesday 24 January 2006 I'm making a bit of progress on my code to smurf the output from iPhoto into a format that I want to put on my site. But I haven't really planned out this project. It could turn into a debacle. permalinkrei 12:19am SAST Wednesday 25 January 2006 After our group date, with Matt and Maiko added, and an empty chair representing Yuki, I hung out with Rei on top deck watching stars. While telling stories and gazing up on the backdrop of Orion and friends, we saw three satellites, a few little shooting stars, and one really long slow one. We got cold, though the wind wasn't too bad and went down to our neighborhood and listened to ¤Ê¤Ä¤«¤· music on her computer. Lots of 80s groups and singers from the US. I was impressed by how well she could do Black Eyed Peas "Where is the love" I basically was falling asleep by the time Carla got there at midnight, and then I did fall asleep while they were talking. Whups! Time to go! permalinkyay for phil 1:17am SAST Wednesday 25 January 2006 Egad. I hate Microsoft Sucks. There's a text document that has some kind of bug or some shit so that it won't print, and I can't cut-n-paste it to another document. When I try either, it crashed Microsoft Sucks Word Sucks. I tried two different computers; I took out all the images from the document; I fucking should be able to print it, or sue Microsoft for wasting my time by being assholes who write shitty code and pretend it's worth anything. Phil came by and reset my angry brain; I can just copy the document I want from a hardcopy that we already have printed. permalinkprev day next day |
