Entries this day: Guest_teacher_day Nihongo Studying dinner_with_Rei do_two maruan_chat Guest teacher day 5:09pm GMT Friday 03 February 2006 I had Petra's classes for Guest Teacher Day, and I am SO happy to have my own classes back tomorrow (actually the day after, cause tomorrow is a day off). For her first class, especially, I was like, yikes stripes! because I like my class so much better! I look forward to seeing my Fantastic Rabbits tomorrow. I love them all so much! permalinkNihongo permalinkStudying 5:03pm GMT Friday 03 February 2006 Most of my free time has been spent studying. We've just been formally introduced to our Japanese teachers, all various passengers who have volunteered to spend some time teaching. Many of them are in turn GET students, though none of us are being taught by our own students. My teacher is あかね, who does not use kanji in her name. The first time we met was at Chat With; she was super chatty and had lots to talk about. She went straight to work on calculating my age when I gave her my days old, and later I told her I would try to choose her when we got the chance to choose our Japanese teachers. The first time I told her that I had, in fact, been able to select her, she used a lot lot lot of English, and I was like, oh shit because that certainly won't help me learn Japanese. But, the first time we actually met 'formally,' I was like, 日本語だけいいですか and she switched immediately to all Japanese with very few slips into English. AND, even better, she has said she'd like to meet every day, which is just fine for me. permalinkdinner with Rei 5:13pm GMT Friday 03 February 2006 Rei and I will be meeting for dinner in Yacht Club at 5:30. 6pm She didn't actually eat since she had just eaten, but we chatted some. She was busy writing a postcard, though took some time out to talk to me, and then to Rie who came up. Sometimes I wonder if I'm just a bother. permalinkdo two 6:44pm GMT Friday 03 February 2006 Dan goes, "Why do one when you can do to?" and then I started and we finished together, "and when I say two, I mean number two!" permalinkmaruan chat 12:59am GMT Saturday 04 February 2006 Maruan, Laura, Carla and I chowed at Yacht Club again tonight after the GET Meeting, during which time Maruan was like, "alright, someone tell us a secret," and I busted out with what's been on my mind regarding Rei. They listened intently and we headed down to Hemingway for a bit more conversation and people watching. Later, after James' lecture on Latin America (being screwed over by the US), and after the GET / CC nomikai (( during which time (1) Yuki asked if I did any 自主企画 on the last voyage and I was like, "Silent Football," and told her the rules after she asked the innocent question "how is it different than regular football?" and (2) Maruan chatted a bit more with me about the rumblings in my mind and then )) Maruan offered to walk outside with me to see how my chat with Rei went. We didn't specifically confirm anything, but we will likely go for a walk tomorrow. Basically I am caught up wondering if I have blown any chances of long term connection with her, when that's actually not even the question I am really worried about. I'm actually wondering if I "should" try to have an open-hearted relationship with her despite my fears and hangups, etc. And I'm wondering what I am "supposed" to be doing in the world. Kyoko came up at that point and I ended up with the homework of looking through my pictures from Palestine. Maruan suggested that Francois' name be in the title of the workshop. permalinkprev day next day |
