Fantastic Rabbits

Met with 5 of the Fantastic Rabbits and had a pretty cool conversation with them regarding things I don't like about Japan: primarily the way women are regarded (must be married before 30 years old or it's too late) and the widespread availability of comic books depicting underage women in sexually comprimised positions. These are sold in convenience stores, and are not "behind the counter," but available from the rack at hip level.

Most of this conversation was done in Japanese, I am proud to say.

今日、７時に私の日本語の先生と会う予定です。その時多分いっぱい話せ ないけど次ぎ会う予定を決める。後、この日記を出す。今朝、クラスの後 GET-Tとヨットクラブで話して食べた。今、ブロードウェイでフランシスさん のライブを聞いたことを書きます。フランシズさんは日本語をじょうずに話せ ます。

今日１１時からカーラ先生とローラ先生と会って２時半からの予定の期末 試験します。

２時半にシーアターでゲームショーを始めます。今から仁美に手紙を書き ます。

みつかった写真は４９回の先生たちです。パット、ブラント、ペットラ、 カットリン、デビッドです。パット先生は一番いい先生だと思います。彼はい つもGETの部屋で働いていました。ブラント先生はいつもスポーツバーでいろ いろな人と話してました。ペットラは私が大変な時話を聞いてくれました。カッ トリン先生は毎日服の色とマニキュアの色が同じだった。

Today:

1. I studied a lot of Japanese with Akane and separately with Mami (who calls herself Hime). Getting into some new grammars.

2. We played dodge ball today in the sports deck. Good fun. It was quite warm today, and we ran around and sweat a lot.

3. No GET Meeting. Yay!

4. Hung out with Rei for the first time since Namibia on her 10,500th day. We talked about dodge ball and the southern cross.

5. Summer festival was on top deck. I skipped most of it, but watched a bit of the movie "Waterboy," a terrible Japanese comedy about 5 teenage boys who overcome all odds to become synchronized swimmers. All the characters were portraits of idiocy.

6. I showed people my short Japanese story of the time I almost fell while running with traffic. Everyone who read it seemed to enjoy it. I may transcribe it.

7. We played Family Feud in Theater today from 2:30 to 3:30. Super kudos to Carla and Laura for all their work setting it up. I got to introduce the game and be the answer announcer.

8. I felt a bit uncomfortable when Hime offered to teach me Japanese. She is quite attractive, and when I was feeling tired, my brain started to wander. She is quite touchy feely, and I get memories slash vibes of Kuni from 49th voyage.

9. I missed a cool shooting star that Rei saw. We both missed an amazing shooting star, its worth based on peoples' reactions.

10. We gained an extra hour. We are now 9 hours behind Japan.

I'm really tired. Today was a case of having a 25 hour day and using the extra hour to become more tired instead of getting an extra hour of sleep.
