Fighting Fantastic Rabbits

11:02am ART Thursday 23 February 2006

Fighting Goat were vaguely talkative today; we continued answering some questions in the form "have you ever _______?" and they were asked to tell a story if they have done it. The questions were rated with more points for more unusual things. I was stunned and amazed that none of them had eaten dog food. Or cat food. Or bird food. Or any animal food.

Fantastic Rabbits seem happy, and are super talkative, but not super talkative in English. We are working on a play, using photos and live action; I'm not sure how it's all going to come out.

Kelly's カタカナ pronunciation is driving me crazy, especially knowing that she's doing it partially on purpose (she thinks it's snobbish to speak with correct pronunciation, so she purposesly uses poor pronunication.

I think I'll make a new NO Japanese box. I think it must have been thrown away when we had to clean the rooms. I didn't clean it because basically everything was Lisa's stuff and I was a lazy cow and just didn't help.

State of my life

2:09pm ART Thursday 23 February 2006

State of My Life Address

  1. I am on PBs 52nd Global Voyage, basically hitting Africa and South America. Tomorrow we will be in Valparaiso, Chile.

  2. I haven't really kissed anyone on the ship.

  3. I officially haven't spent any money on the ship.

  4. I haven't really planned lessons in several days. Part of me is concerned that I'll be called a bad teacher, but the students seem to be happy, and doing what they want to do.

  5. I have been talking to Saki, the passenger who is an accupuncturist. She's going to accupuncture me at 4pm today. I think it would be quite beneficial to keep it strictly professional, though part of me has designs on other options.

  6. 玲 invited me to have a brownie in Hemingway, though I haven't taken her up on it yet. We've got it planned for tonight at 8 or after Valparaiso.

  7. I haven't worked on my port orientation for Rapa Nui yet. I've got initial data collection done, but not sifted through it.

  8. Gmail has chat, but I haven't used it past sending Fred a few lines for which I have not seen his response.

  9. We GET Ts did our crazy dance last night. It turned out pretty well.

  10. Just today Maruan and I finished a game of DOTS that is the background for a 52 TIMES newspaper title image.

  11. Seeing DOTS written in all uppercase gives me a なつかしfeeling for the game I wrote in Pascal in 1990. I'd like to write a version for the web. I'd like to write a version that has a computer player.

  12. I've transcribed 4 songs for Danny, the waiter upstairs. I'm going to work on some more now.

Met Saki for an accupuncture session today, although I think she didn't actually accupuncture me: she just used the little heat-treatment points, though I'm still not sure what it's called in either Japanese or English.

She felt my back and immediately noticed my injury from 1993. She's the first person to notice it, not including my chiropractor who worked on it right after it happened.

I told the story and she was quite positively responsive in a way that made me feel all yummy inside, like she really heard me and understood. Wow.

She treated me like a paying patient, asking several questions about my overall lifestyle: do I sleep soundly, do I have headaches, do I have soreness, etc. She took notes, and I told her how to ask the same questions in English. That's basically my payment for our session.

Awesome. And totally professional.
