Breakfast

9:21am ART Sunday 26 February 2006

This term my classes start at 9:30 for Fighting Goats, and not till 12:30pm for Fantastic Rabbits. Ate breakfast in Yacht Club at Yuuka and James' table, then Kellie replaced Yuuka as they were talking about my title image being used for the daily paper.

Last night I filled in numbers on the one Maruan and I drew, but they used a different one of mine instead. If they hadn't used one of mine I'm sure I would be more freaked, but still, I'm surprised that they decided to use it, especially since I had written (FEB, and then crossed it out and wrote) MAR, so they had to cross it out and write FEB.

I wonder if I'll get pictures of these title images here.

Japanese lesson

12:29pm ART Sunday 26 February 2006

I basically ran out of Yacht Club after my Japanese lesson with あかね, my Japanese teacher onboard. I have really enjoyed having her as a teacher, given that she's willing to meet me each day to help me study.

Today I read part of the daily paper, and learned some new vocabulary:

太平洋(たいへいよう)

大西洋(たいせいよう)

And maybe some others that I can't remember now. (It's actually 12:41am)

Oh, wait...

11:42pm CLST Sunday 26 February 2006

It's actually 11:42pm yesterday still.

Rabbits and Goats

2:06pm ART Sunday 26 February 2006

Just finished Fantastic Rabbits class; they mostly worked on their Peach Boy play the entire time. We basically had two groups going: Alice and Kelly working on sorting pictures, then Angelina, Michelle, and Carol asking Angelina about her trip. George is on his own tour now; he'll join us in Rapa Nui.

Fighting Goats was a more challenging class; basically I had them asking questions about Sugar's overland tour, and I transcribed slash edited their questions and her responses into basically natural English. They ran out of questions after a while and I focused on some of the grammar points with which they had had trouble.

I think/hope they were happy. They seemed to be, and when I asked them, they said they were.

date with Carla

12:28am ART Monday 27 February 2006

Went to dinner with Carla tonight; we got our own table and enjoyed chatting about the cruise and GET Team. I asked how her experience has differed from her pre-cruise thoughts, and she said it's like she's a teacher on a cruise ship, and not on PB.

Hmmm. Yes; I can see that.

We wondered if it could be helped or changed or what.

the corporation

12:31am ART Monday 27 February 2006

Watched _The Corporation_, a 3 hour documentary that talked about the history of corporations, how corporations have the rights of people but not the souls of people, how corporations are legally bound to watch their bottom lines, and how people have been able to fight corporations into doing something closer to the right thing.

It talked about sustainability, and suggested that basically no corporations are sustainable. They are plundering the earth of its natural resources: minerals, plants, animals (including humans), all in search of the might profit.

I wonder how sustainable my life is.
