Entries this day: Lisa's_classes My_classes Poor_orientation Title_images date_with_Hime nenakya rei_chocolate state_of_my_life Lisa's classes 7:04pm CLST Tuesday 28 February 2006 Lisa's classes were not the problem I thought they would be. I could even imagine teaching them again, and would actually prefer one of her classes over one of mine. (WTF is that about?) One of her classes featured three students, who arrived on time, 3 minutes late, and 6 minutes late, respectively. I told them I felt bad for Lisa because it's so hard to have to start over a class for each new student who comes in. I asked them "do you like Lisa?" and they were like, "yes" so I suggested they come on time to class tomorrow. They all seemed interested in doing that. I wonder if she'll notice. permalinkMy classes 7:08pm CLST Tuesday 28 February 2006 Carl taught my classes today; I missed them! Both my Fantastic Rabbits and my Fighting Goats. Maybe we'll have a party tomorrow night in Ann's room, plus have class there tomorrow. I'll ask her if they have made such a plan. Turns out two of them slept over in her room last night after our party finished. Rumor has it they were up to 3am! Carl was like, "holy shit!" when he rocked into Fantastic Rabbits with a plan and they were like, "booyah!" and told him what the hell was up, directing / creating Peach Boy play. I love my Fantastic Rabbits! permalinkPoor orientation 7:00pm CLST Tuesday 28 February 2006 I was supposed to do the port orientation for Rapa Nui today, which I did, but don't think I did a particularly good job at it. I did better than last voyage, when I discovered I was supposed to do the port orientation NOW, had to run down to GET Street, print out the rough information and run back upstairs and fumble through not having read it and having plenty of repeated information; this time I was on time, had editted the document carefully, basically knew what it said, but I still didn't feel like I was one with the information; I didn't feel comfortable talking about it because I haven't been there yet; I just have this general idea.... *I* know what it is!! I don't prepare *anything* for the ports: my plan is always, "walk around, see what I find,"... so in that light, I've done a fantastic port orientation! Wow. Yay me! - - - - But the port orientation was dominated by a misdirected discussion about plastic obento boxes being used in Rapa Nui. Roberto, who successfully sued Costa Rica for supporting the US in Iraq, PBs newest staff member, was all like, "why do we have plastic containers?" in all sorts of concern for the environment, etc, all things with which I agree, BUT it's too late to do anything on this voyage; Japanese decisions are made centuries (*) in advance, and are hella slow to change. He'll need to bring his arguments back to Tokyo and make changes there. No way anything will substantially change on the voyage. NOW, I grant that with my attitude nothing will change, and I best be thankful for people like him in the world. However, at least, I have chosen not to use a plastic box lunch on Rapa Nui; I'll just happily starve for 8 whole hours until we get back to the ship. Or buy food on the island. (*) or less permalinkTitle images 7:26pm CLST Tuesday 28 February 2006 I have drawn 7 title images that have not yet been used in the daily paper. I went and asked for two more blank sheets and Erika (*) was like, "we have many of your title images so we might not be able to use them all," and I was like, "oh!" and "then I won't do anymore," being careful to check my vibe: prefering I don't want to waste time / put you in a position of having to choose over fine, fuck you then; I won't do any more. (*) one of my shy students, so I was really happy that she spoke up. permalinkdate with Hime 7:31pm CLST Tuesday 28 February 2006 I don't know if I'm going on a 2 person date with Hime, but I told her I would meet her for dinner; she said she was feeling bad and was considering leaving the voyage in Tahiti. 9:33pm CLST Tuesday 28 February 2006 Just got back from our dinner (where we sat across from two old men who complained quietly yet rudely about the food) and chillin' out on the front deck (where we determined my 13500th day will be 11 March 2007 (which didn't ring any bells though I've done the calculation N times already, so either it's wrong, or my bells are broken) and her 8500th day to be 2 May 2006) while the sun took its sweet time to set at 9:15 (though we didn't stay out that long). permalinknenakya 9:41pm CLST Tuesday 28 February 2006 Afterward, I walked Hime to the PA room 行かなきゃ! and found あかね nearby so I helped her with a couple vocabulary words ("inspirational" and "sum up") from the article she's reading. I thought I had seen 左貴 on 7th floor, so I went back, aware that I was basically stalking when I need to be sleeping, but it wasn't her. Went down to Ann's room to see if she really wanted us to meet there for our class tomorrow, but she wasn't there, so we'll meet in our classroom and then move if inspired to do so. I nearly checked 左貴's room on the way to mine, but somehow kept myself from checking; it seemed too creepy for me to show up there unannounced; we're not actually friends, and it would just be ooky. permalinkrei chocolate 9:47pm CLST Tuesday 28 February 2006 In Namibia I bought some white chocolate to share with 玲ちゃん, and ended up overtly giving it to her a couple days ago. Today or so she said I should snag some, and just a bit ago I heard her come by her room so I took her up on that offer, getting 4 of the last 6 squares. It was really nice chocolate. I haven't really talked to her in probably a week, which equates to about a month in Tokyo time. She said No Music No 52nd event has been cancelled, which furthers my resolve to just go to bed bed bed. After a shower. I'll wake up early and do something interesting, perhaps. Especially since we're getting an hour tonight. New time: 9:03pm CST Tuesday 28 February 2006 Wow. That took a while to get sorted. Timezones on this computer are not easy to set to Rapa Nui time. permalinkstate of my life 9:04pm CST Tuesday 28 February 2006 Given that it's just about a new month, and I have free time, I'll work on a State of My Life Address
