AM meditation

8:01am MST Sunday 05 March 2006

I woke up without an alarm around 5am, flopped around in bed a bit and then decided to practice meditation for an hour. I did 35 minutes before I just couldn't anymore; several times I nearly gave up; several times I found myself falling asleep. I was using the ceiling tiles and plumbing supports as physical reference points to monitor my posture. If I couldn't feel them on my left shoulder and right temple, then I knew I had slouched.

Plus, the ship's rocking keeps me from being able to sit in an effortlessly balanced way.

Breakfast

9:19am MST Sunday 05 March 2006

Chowed up in Yacht Club with Kellie and a student who seemed hesitant to move her chair so that she would not be facing the sun.

Our CC neighbors came up and sat at a nearby table; Kellie chatted with them; I left myself out.

While leaving, Yuka (on video team) was like, "yo yo" and we talked for about 15 minutes; mostly I tried to explain in Japanese why it's cool to keep a journal.

Gave her the battery charger for the video camera; yesterday they all but finished recording the scenes necessary for the video. Fantastic!!

Classes

4:20pm MST Sunday 05 March 2006

Classes were pretty good today, though I went a bit long with Fighting Goats, forgot I had a lesson with Akane at 11, but I gave them my keys, asked them to lock the door and bring them to me in Yacht Club. They took longer than I expected, but it appears they took the game we had made to Ann's room and then brought the keys. I had asked them to bring the game and the keys, so I could get the game laminated, but I apparently wasn't very clear.

Fantastic Rabbits consisted of working on Peach Boy the whole time. They are fantastic! Got a pretty funny set of pictures to use for our presentation. Hint: worst animation ever; we'll just flip between two static images, each representing the person who is talking at the time.

New things

9:15am PST Monday 06 March 2006

Last night at Gaby's English only lecture, I became inspired to get involved again, and was like, "I should go back to Palestine and really get involved with ISM," and then thought of money as an obstacle, plus wanting to do 54th, so I realized I should do something in Japan, and I realized I could get involved with PB when we get back, and, like that day I made the switch from inactive to active at UH, I realized I could get involved in PB *now*.

Talked with 愛 during dinner and asked her how to get involved with the volunteer thing, and she said they didn't really have a structured way to let English speakers volunteer, but Stacy and someone else just got involved by showing up repeatedly and being offered positions.

That sounded more like what I'd be willing to do: show up as it continued to suit me, and I could, in fact, start that night because I had been invited by みずほ from the newspaper to help with the 小タイトル, small title images. Went there at 10:30, drew four title images (they're very small) and chatted with them and felt a new infusion of energy on both sides of the table.

During that time, やっちん came up looking for me (I don't know who ratted me out; she and I had never met before) to sign me up for sports day things. I didn't really want to do them, but I agreed to the three events that she requested.

Left around 1am MST and talked with Emi until 1am PST. Her English is quite good, though I had never really chatted with her before. She gave me 3 おやぎガグ that I remember: ふとんがふとんだ、わくせいはくせえ、もくせいもくせえ

Fuckin' hilarious!
