Discovery

I found an organization that needed adults to chaperone youth to
different countries around the world.  I applied, and they were like,
"how much in-country experience do you have?"  And I was like,
"ummmm, I'll call you back."

So I decided to go to Japan for a year and then call them back.  I
knew fully that going to Japan for a year would open myriad doors for
me and I might never call them back, but I wouldn't be worse off for
having gone to Japan.

I just found this in a letter I wrote to Tammy in October 2004. I had totally forgotten about that organization! I think I'll need to get my Japanese a bit stronger before I call them back.

Classes today were pretty good.

I am about to meet with video project team to try and get our video imported....

The meeting was a semi-success: we determined that we were unable to get my computer to talk to Mutsumi's computer. Don't know why exactly, but for some reason the \ key on her computer printed a yen symbol, and we couldn't find a way around it. Even cut-n-paste from the insert symbol table converted the \ to yen. Doeth.

I didn't try importing it to my computer; I've got 3.6 gigs free, which is probably enough to import it, but perhaps not enough to edit it. I am okay letting them run around with my camera, but not with my computer, specially since it's not only in English, but in Dvorak, physically though not logically; ain no way they could very easily work with my machine. If they can't find anyone else with a cable or machine that will work, we can do it on mine; perhaps on the day after Tahiti.

So I've sent them off to find a body who has a cable that can plug from my camera to her computer, or find a Mac person with more storage space on their machine.

Went up to top deck after the GET Meeting; chatted with Rie from 49th, Ann (of Fighting Goats), and Ryo (Ann's roommate). I was quite happy for the attention, though I was careful to not (really) flirt back.

Worked on organizing names of students who will be in the speech contest, but forgot something, so I ditched it until after going to top deck to watch No Music No 52nd.

No Music No 52nd was tonight; I went to just part of it; stood up on the jacuzzi and was pleased when Saki said HI. Sat with her a bit, though we didn't say all that much.

Went back down, finished the speech contest things, then went up to Peace Center and did some of the 小タイトル for the paper this evening. About 4 of them, I think.
