I was surprised last night to find that watching what I thought was not much of the movie made it suddenly become 2am. But this morning I realize I did *not* set my phone clock 23 hours ahead; not sure how that happened, but when I woke up this morning I was like, "oh shit!" (*) because I had nearly missed breakfast, plus I had to write a letter to myself in 10 years.

Got up, wrote it, zipped upstairs and met Funky who checked it for me while I ate;

(*) "oh shit!" (drawn out and dramatic) is how me-n-Carl greet each other when we walk into the room, especially when one of us is naked.

こんにちは

この手紙書くときねは生まれたから１３１４１日目です。１６８００日目 ぐらいに読む予定です。

その時どこに住んでいますか。５年前私は今日本に住んでいます全然わか らなかった。

今PBの５２回クルーズに住んでいます。お金がないし、仕事できるVISAが ないし、家がないし、このクルーズの後どうしょう分からない。

だけど、ちょっと予定頑張る予定です：東京から京都まで自転車で行って、 そこで１０日間めいそうして、後わからない。

５４回とか、アメリカ帰るとか、仕事するとか、ほかの国に行くとか、本 当に何でもいいです。

今はちょっと　こわいです。でも１６８００日目の路武は今の路武のほこ りですか？

今私はがんばりたい。多分１６８００日目の路武もこわい事がある。がん ばって下さい。

Dear Rob

hello

This letter is being written on my 13141st day since birth.  I
plan to read it on about my 16800th day.

At that time, where will I be living?  5 years ago I never
imagined I would be living in Japan now.

Now I am on PB's 52nd voyage.  I've got no money, no work visa, no
house, so after this cruise I don't know what I'll do.

But, I have a bit of a plan: ride my bicycle from Tokyo to Kyoto
and do a 10 day meditation, but after that, I don't know.

I could go on the 54th voyage, go back to the US, get a job, go to
another country... anything.

Right now I'm a little scared.  But, 16800 days old Rob, are you
proud of me?

I want to try my best now.  Probably 16800 days old Rob has fears
as well.  Please try your best.

Made the corrections, turned in the thing, discovered that I had an extra hour, chatted with Effie in Reception about the Greek party last night (I didn't attend because it wasn't free) where she danced on a table near the end and about ports on upcoming voyages, went back to Yacht Club and chowed a bit while chatting with Eri. Her English is really good; she spent three months in Sydney. We traded word jokes and talked about ports and stuff; she seems pretty fun.

We're exporting the video from Carl's iMovie to an avi file so we can put it on Mutsumi's computer so she and her peeps can edit it. I hope this project comes together in the end!

Gloomy

Super rainy today, but it's a warm rain, so I am still going out. I hope Eri chooses to as well; I love playing out in warm rain! They closed to WTDs (water tight doors) so we're apparently arriving quite soon.

Walk with Eri

Wandered around Suva with Eri today. It basically was overcast but not rainy while we were out, though it did rain while we hopped online for a bit. I sent a message to the cats at the Vippasana meditation center in Kyoto to see if I can get the meditation registration situation situated, and sent a brief email to a couple other peeps (Suzanne, Nihal, Hitomi, Colleen, Fred)

Eri and I sat quietly watching a fountain for a while, then as it started to rain a bit, I picked a coconut out of the water and jokingly offered it to her; she refused, as expected; I threw it into the pool and noted that I nearly hit a toad that had been chillin until the huge asteroid-coconut nearly dashed his froggy hopes of a long life. Looking around the pool, I determined he had no way of getting out, so I scooped him up and put him on the edge of the fountain. He jumped back in, so I figured he must be alright in the pool.

Rain continued to rain, so we went under a nearby roof thing that sorta made a public ampitheater for the park. Wind picked up and suddenly a decent sized tree branch fell into the fountain!

After the rain went away, we went over to inspect the branch. It made a perfect toad-sized bridge out of the pool and onto dry land.

The universe provides. The toad remained happily floating in the water.

Lots more walk walk walking and occassional talk talk talking. Saw a cool house thing that could be a fort, especially given there was no easy way to get into it. Saw several large bats flying, basically all in one direction like a migration. Wrote kanji on each other's backs to see if the recipient could identify them.
