Dreams

6:28am JST Thursday 20 April 2006 (day 13175)

Saw a man preparing food for a bunch of people, basically mixing white and brown sugar in a five gallon plastic bucket. I asked if I could help, and he was like, "yeah, mix this," so I used a metal bar and mixed, and he used his hands and feet (while wearing socks) and there were sticks and leaves in it, but we still just kept mixing. I was a bit grossed out, but didn't say anything.

It came time to cook our mix, which was not perfectly mixed, but had some stripes in it and we just poured batter onto the hot asphalt on the street, making about 200 pancake sized things, blocking the entire ineresection next to some railroad tracks. The train was coming, so cars couldn't move anyway, though the road was parallel to the tracks and a T intersection was involved. Traffic didn't mind our behavior, but just waited patiently.

There was even a truck bound for Lawson's, and printed on the side of the truck was the time he had to be at the store. Only 4 or 41 minutes remained, depending on when I looked at it.

(though I didn't trigger that this must be a dream)

I tried the first sugar pancake when it was done, but it wasn't all that sweet. Just basically like a tortilla.

My hair was getting longer, and I noted that the roots were all white. They all started at the same time to just be white, and about a half centimeter of every root was just white. I wondered if I would feel embarassed to shave my head again and have naught but white hair from then on. I showed my friend the surprising way the hair *all* changed at once, and it was agreed to be pretty strange, but no decision was made about if I should shave it or not.

Internet

8:57am JST Thursday 20 April 2006 (day 13175)

I'm going to go to the library now to try and research massage/body therapy schools in Japan, and hostels nearby, and, hopefully, be able to upload these past 17 days of journal entries. I don't expect them to let me, and their internet computer is right beside their desk, so my hopes are not up.

Massage research

12:14pm JST Thursday 20 April 2006 (day 13175)

Got my journal entries uploaded with a stealthy CAT 5 cable switcharoo. Did some research and found the massage slash psychotherapy idea would likely be a long process, unless I go to a week long Thai Massage school in Thailand, a place I have wanted to visit. And cheap, too!

Wrote a quick query to Kathy Fey to see how she began her career.

farm

4:20pm JST Thursday 20 April 2006 (day 13175)

Finished my planned work on the farm today. Weeded the last yellow flower bed, and cut all the bamboo into firepit sized pieces.

Also went exploring a bit deeper into the property and ound an orange tree and scooped up two oranges that had fallen, but were still intactly edible. Then found some old rooves supported with rusty frames, but no walls involved. There were ancient circuit breakers, old hanging light bulbs, old mattresses, and a couple of farm machines. It would be totally spooky at night!

I looked for a place to sit and enjoy oranges and chillful reading of the book, but found none under the rooves.

Back down to where we had the outdoor lunch and ate and read there. The oranges tasted a lot like grape fruits, but I couldn't bear to not eat them. I found them basically palatable if I took off all the skin around each slice, just eating the little juicy inner nodules.

Read a lot of the book; now The Nine are under the mountain, and have not had any troubles inside. I'm sure they will soon.

fuckin iPhoto

6:27pm JST Thursday 20 April 2006 (day 13175)

Dammit. I basically am hating iPhoto right now.

(( I did, however, figure out why iPhoto outputs photo albums with a single picture in front of the rest, out of order. They are output in the order they are selected. So if that picture was selected and then I select all, it will be put first. So the solution is to deselect everything, then select everything. ))

But right now I hate that there's no easy way to rename all the titles... I want to remove all the underscores (which I had put in there back in the days when I wouldn't use the webpage output function because it stupidly-names the files 0.jpg, 1.jpg, etc.)

I want to remove all the underscores from the titles because they look stupid in the photo album. I tried changing AlbumData.xml, but that didn't work. I even tried changing iPhoto.db, but that didn't work. Where is this information stored? And why is it stored in so many places, but unused??

My solution, I realize while bitching about it, is to let my iPhoto_2_legible do the work, basically removing _ from the titles but adding _ to filenames.

Fuck; that's going to be a pain. I might just do it with emacs.

10:01pm JST Thursday 20 April 2006 (day 13175)

I've promised myself to go to bed soooooon sooon sooon... Been sidetracked reading Fellowship of the Ring, and cleansing my computer. But good news is that I've got 222 London + Paris pictures to put online hopefully soon.

I'm supposed to leave here tomorrow or the next day. I will tomorrow if the weather is nice. I will by the next day no matter what. Gotta get to Kyoto on time!
