Entries this day: AM_Dream Do_list_remains Lazy_day Light_switch_fix korea AM Dream 9:02am JST Tuesday 16 May 2006 (day 13201) Someone telling the epic tale of how Bart Simpson won the trust of the king and used the power to overtake the castle and king's authority. This was the long version of the tale, including how Bart waited for each horse to be saddled up and each general to get alerted of troop readyment, and then the signal was given to deploy and Bart asked the king if he could borrow the keys to the country, and the king, thinking no ill will, complied and then promptly was asked to step down, which he had to do. Bart had taken over the country without lifting a sword, nor having any opposition to his new position. permalinkDo list remains 1:07am JST Tuesday 16 May 2006 (day 13201) I tore through the to-do list tonight; good deal. Here's my version of what's left: Things to do online and otherwise* = finished; bold equals higher priority / easier to knock off the list
Lazy day 12:12pm JST Tuesday 16 May 2006 (day 13201) Today has been a good lazy day so far; slept late, ate soba and salad for brunchfest; Karen gave me some music from her huge collection of variously archived and labeled piles of mp3s and albums on various CDs. Now she is working on her thesis, and I just wrote her summary that she told me is what she has to write within 2 weeks: The Great Merging As the world gets more fucked, more people are shouting up about it. The seemingly disparate topics of (neoliberalism and new economy and world trade organization) AND (English as a product / language dominance / language prejudice) are actually part of the same picture take these facts, for example: <snip> so as you can see, my thesis is valid thank you. I just cleaned up the dishes and now I'm going to take a shower and sort through pictures on my computer; try to get past the lump I was stuck at last night. (determining which pictures are on my site and which are not and why/if/how some albums have changed locally but not on my site. permalinkLight switch fix 3:40pm JST Tuesday 16 May 2006 (day 13201) Nice. Kazzah and I just fixed her lamp that had a broken switch. I am mostly glad that she's happy to now know how to fix such things. It was an easy fix that just cost 198 yen for a new switch. Thanks, Dad, for having taught me how to do all that kinda stuff. permalinkkorea 7:09pm JST Tuesday 16 May 2006 (day 13201) Korea. Small country just west of here. North side; south side; Seoul. I, for one, have never been, though it is, relatively speaking, pretty close to where I've been living for a while. I've got to escape Japan soon... and it gives me an idea: I'll change my days old thing to a Days until I must escape Japan countdown. ANYWAY; I must be out of this country by 28 June; I'm not willing to become illegal and face the bad side of Japanese bureaucracy. Or I must get a job in Japan. I decided during the 10 day meditation that my next project would just be making money for a year or so and get out of debt again and then do something interesting. (actually I just added "and do something interesting," but that is the general idea.) I heard from Richard that Korea is cheap and we can save more money there than here. He also said he can get me a job there. I wrote to DruDaddyG who said basically said both the same things. I flipped a coin and it was HEADS: go to Korea. Korea. Korea. Korea? Korea! I need to go just to see wtf it is; people say Koreans are ruder than Japanese (certainly everyone is ruder than Japanese); Japanese are passive aggressive and Koreans are.. active aggressive. Interesting. Dru says he likes Koreans in general better than the fake niceties of Japanese culture. Korea? Hmmmmmmmm Basically if Sumidasan can't slash won't sponsor a visa for me in Japan, it looks like I'm going to Korea. permalinkprev day next day |
