Entries this day: A_shorts Food Mr_Lister Park webquarry.com zzz_perl_photo_albums zzzz_but_first zzzzzz_fo'_real A shorts 11:30am JST Sunday 21 May 2006 (day 13206) I've had these shorts since before I came to Japan, so that's three years and counting. My supply of shorts brought over from the US has been dwindling. I had two pair on the PB when we started, and one pair when we ended. During my TJ Bike trip, the remaining pair has developed a rather large + shaped hole near the pocket, where the fabric has worn thin due to being worn with thick amounts of stuff in the pockets. I forgot to get a photo of the hole before I started to sew it, but perhaps later, I may appreciate even a mid-project photo. permalinkFood 12:44pm JST Sunday 21 May 2006 (day 13206) I made breakfast for us today; stir fried vegetables with みりん (sweet alcohol flavoring). Kazzah directed me in cooking rice (without a rice maker which we forgot to bring home from her office), and it turned out quite well. Kazzah has just made lunch for us: miso soup and tomatoes plus the rice. permalinkMr Lister 10:07am JST Sunday 21 May 2006 Things to doToday there is a 5% chance of internet and 95% chance of being outside, so I will focus on non-internet activities: o = started; * = finished
Park 1:51pm JST Sunday 21 May 2006 (day 13206) Kazzah and I are taking an afternoon off from being inside; we'll still be working on our respective stuffs (me on my A-shorts, and she on her MA), but we'll just be doing it outside. She also has a Lonely Planet book on Korea that I'll take for educational purposes. permalinkwebquarry.com 10:48pm JST Sunday 21 May 2006 (day 13206) Just want to say I'm really happy with my webhost provider, who offers Linux web hosting - Webquarry! They are super responsive to all my support requests, most recently recovery of a file I deleted. Replaced within 2 hours of when I deleted it, and that was at 3am their time. permalinkzzz perl photo albums 1:28am JST Monday 22 May 2006 (day 13207) I've spent the last hours.... like 4 or 5 hours I guess trying to evaluate various photo album software. I found three basic genres (not including non-free software): perl / PHP / wordpress. I basically decided I didn't want to go with a wordpress solution because I so rarely do anything with my blog. I definitely don't want a PHP solution because I don't know PHP for shit. I found three free perl versions. Maybe four. I spent the most time looking at album.pl, which seems pretty powerful, but pretty fucking difficult to set up. I have spent the last few hours digging through the config file and the album.pl file making config changes and spelling corrections (the latter I plan to send him), but in the process of making these changes, I see the code doesn't look like it will actually work as I have it. There are some "hacks" in the code that overwrite variables set in the config file, and are overwritten in a way that is not compatible with how I've set things up. I can't recall for all of them if the default config will work with the hacks, but I imagine they would have. So, I don't know if I should remove the hacks and let the config file do its thing, or hack the hacks to match my config file, or change the config file to match the hacks, OR to just scrap the whole thing, saying thank you very much, but I've had enough I also looked at emAlbum, Free Perl Album, and Birch, but they won't handle directory structures I have. It has begun to appear that album.pl also won't handle my directory structures. Hmph. In any case, it's time for bed. But I've still gotta do dishes; Kazzah made food for us for tomorrow! permalinkzzzz but first 2:03am JST Monday 22 May 2006 (day 13207) Okay, I just did the dishes, and now I'm having a bit of granola cereal snack, and reading some news articles I downloaded a while ago. permalinkzzzzzz fo' real 2:23am JST Monday 22 May 2006 (day 13207) Aight. Just gotta wash this bowl, floss, brush, go to bed. permalinkprev day next day |
