Dream

6:37am JST Tuesday 20 June 2006

Back at my parents' house, actually mom's, I had to pee, so I was going to pee in the corner, but decided that would be impolite, so I went to the restroom that was available from the outside, and while I was seated, trying to get back into my new book by Dan Brown (even newer than DaVinci Code) a guy walked by and peered into the window. I waved back at him to say HI and Occupied at the same time, and he walked away.

Then a man came by wearing a huge Matrix black long coat and carrying a huge machine gun with tripod, and I was like, "I guess I'm done in here" and flushed the toilet so he could hear I was done. I came out, looking down as if I hadn't seen his weapon, but he didn't seem phased, and said something in Chinese, but I understood it in Japanese 今日早く. His interpreter said thank you, and I said sheishei in my best attempt at thank you in Mandarin.

They laughed as jovially as spies with huge guns would, and I ventured to ask which way I should go to escape the apparent onslaught. The guy was like, "well, you know about the big bomb over there," referring to a bomb that local rumor had secretly discussed its whereabouts for years a few hundred meters away in the woods, "that's been compromised, and today we'll be fighting against an air attack over here," pointing in the opposite direction, and just as he said that, dramatic music came on in the background as a man (*) came up behind him with a handgun loosely deployed.

6:48am

(*) just felt a pretty decent sized earthquake! Nice. It's been a while!

My guy knew he had been caught, and continued to talk to me as he was preparing to whirl around and try to disarm the guy, but I didn't stay to watch, and just released the outcome and used the opportunity to head outside.

Actually to the other room, where I slid underneath a desk, then realized it was a bad location cause it's where the spies used to hang out, so perhaps they would come back... I recognized I needed to find another place to go where I could read my book safely plus have food for a while. Ah - I should take TJ Bike down the hill to the valley and community park, which was away from the compromised bomb location and away from the planned air attack.

Woke up before I headed down.

Earthquake

6:48am JST Tuesday 20 June 2006

While writing my dream, we had a good shakey shakey earthquakey! This building shakes "all the time" due to heavy traffic on the road and elevated highway right out front. Sometimes it feels like an earthquake, but then we get an actual earthquake that puts all questions to rest. That was an earthquake.

The shake is bigger, more dramatic, and accompanied by a creak in the walls somewhere as the building flexes to accomodate the wave.

I felt the shaking subside within about 5 seconds, and half hoped for a reshake, but nothing else has yet occurred (7:05am)

I'm looking for the earthquake on USGS report an earthquake outside US, but it hasn't been listed yet.

Looking at the rarity of earthquakes on that page, I bet our little tremor won't make it. ざんねん、ね。

    Jesse school

    2:05am JST Wednesday 21 June 2006

Fun at Jesse's school today, but not as fun as last time, because these three classes hadn't previously heard about me, so I was not an instant star. I told my story and we had them draw manga of the adventure. I'd like to post images of some of them up here, but can't for privacy laws. sucks.

After school, we carefully played hackey sack on the Musashi Nakahara platform while waiting for the stupid infrequent Nambu line to produce a train. Went one whole stop to Musashi Kosugi for a happy Takoyaki reunion at Gindako, and were surprised to find the seats have been removed from their dining area and replaced with a 広島 style okonomiyaki shop, I think.

Still enjoyed our takoyaki; just ate on benches outside, which is really inside-ish, under the station.

Happy Birthday to Ma today! I got to talk to her for about 15 minutes on Skype. She is in St Louis at GA now. That would be a pretty cool place to be now. I'd like to take the elevator up the arch, and play frisbee around it. (the arch, and therefore also the elevator)

Bought some baby powder to try and stop this shoulder/back strap thing from chafing so much; it's getting worse as the weather grows warmer and sweatier.

I'm getting more into del.icio.us. I will quite likely put quick links under each of my journal entries soon, but I am well-focused on my images project for now.

Downloaded a torrents client today; I'd like a copy of Kill Bill. It said it would take 3 days to download. Fuck that. And by "fuck that," I mean change the port.

Super tired, but got some good stuff done with images today. Now I have the framework so it checks for the existance of critical tables in the db, and allows the user to enter admin-password to log into the system. The login will eventually allow the admin-user to create the necessary tables. Preferably with a slick interface, though I haven't thought about how slick it c/should be.

But, the awesomest thing recently: if there is no admin password defined in the settings, the admin function is totally off. Null password will not match the null password to let somebody in.
