Entries this day: Computer_shtuff Shibuya_w_Aya_and_Akiko Zzzz_images Computer shtuff 11:10am JST Friday 23 June 2006 Jesse and I are going to Oimachi to hopefully find some cool, inexpensive computer stuff ... for nerds. (us) I want a USB US style keyboard. 3:02pm Ended up getting a US style PS/2 keyboard, which I know won't fit into my/Hitomi's computer without an adapter, but my gut said buy it. 500 yen. And then Jesse pointed out that the keyboard features Mac-style command key and stuff, and says Mac compatible on the back. Nice! I didn't consciously notice that before I bought it. Also of note, the guy inadvertantly gave me the PS/2 cable that I put on the counter with the keyboard. Like before I said I was going to buy the keyboard, he gave me the cable, apparently not knowing it had been theirs. I accepted it, which is one (conscious) reason I bought the keyboard. They had an actual Mac USB keyboard for 1200 yen, but it was Japanese style layout, which I've already got with Hitomi's computer, so I chose not to buy it. Jesse thinks I won't be able to find an adapter for less than 1000 yen; I neither agree nor disagree. permalinkShibuya w Aya and Akiko 9:33pm JST Friday 23 June 2006 Just got back from chillin' with Aya (Anko's roommate on PB52) and her friend Akiko in Shibuya! Met at our friend ハチ公's place and braved the crowds under Inokashira line for some chai, ice tea and chatting about my crash and Aya's trip to Okinawa and their efforts to get jobs as a nurse and a nurse, respectively. I was well-surprised to get omiyage from Korea and Okinawa from Aya! To an okonomiyaki shop very close to 109, which was great fun, because I love お好み焼き and found that I've grown to like もんんじゃ, and we all helped cook it on the table while I told them about the new coaster at FujiQ, and debated Aya's driving skills. Ice cream at Haagen Dazs; double for me and single each for them. just chillin' outside in Shibuya. I love that crazy city. They had to rock out at 8pm to get home by last trains. Aya in Chiba and Akiko in Nagano. Super glad they spent their last day of a mini-vacation together hanging out with me! permalinkZzzz images 1:56am JST Saturday 24 June 2006 Hmmmmmm. Got some code that doesn't crash, but also doesn't display quite the way I want it to display. Basically I want the admin to be able to log in, and then update the tabs at the top of the navigation bar to reflect that the admin can now log out (and no longer log in). But, as of images version 0.012, it doesn't work. (password is currently "cat" but (it must be submitted twice, and) it will change after I get back from Bali.) Instead of working, the tabber tabs vanish after any password attempt, whether correct or not. I got it to work by refreshing the entire screen, but I'd like to have it be slicker than that. 2:11am Oh wait; I might know why!! - - - - nope! 2:35am And by "nope!" I now mean "yahooo!!!" I just need to wait until the Ajax function call comes back before trying to refresh the changing portion of the screen! I saw a reference to some code that does that (I just slapped in a setTimeout())... I'll find it and add it when I get back! still requires double entry, but I think I can fix that.. actually I am certain I can; it's something to do with when cookies are being written and read... 3:39am JST Saturday 24 June 2006 Dammit; I have stayed up a bit too late, and still haven't packed. I was just looking for a tutorial to add an Ajax activity indicator in perl, but I can't find one!!!! PHP, okay. Ruby, okay. But not Perl. Not CGI::Ajax. Argh. Okay, panic pack starting now. permalinkprev day next day |
