AM pressure

5:10am JST Monday 10 July 2006

Woah. I'm thankful to have woken up instead of releasing that pile of crap in bed. A half liter of vanilla ice cream last night may have contributed to this lactose-intolerant's morning productivity.

I remember when I first woke up thinking it was a weird time (in terms of my dream) to wake up. Then I felt the painful cramps and realized why.

Dream

Playing aminiature game of golf, as in the entire game was contained in a box 3 by 4 feet. More like a board game. One element of the game was to hit other players' balls off the course with one's oown ball. My ball was actually a little figure with a vase, which had gotten stuck under a piece of paper, so when I tried to hit it, the paper held it in place. I was given permission to place it on top of the paper before hitting it, and I used my miniature cue stick to hit t and it plowed through two other players' pieces, and off the game grid itself.

Kelly was there, and said she was pregnant again, and let me feel the kicking. It was like Looney Toons Tasmanian Devil with such frequent and dramatic kicks. yeouch!

Moving robnugen.com

4:25pm JST Monday 10 July 2006

I think I'm ready to move robnugen.com to dreamhost.com. I like their setup better; they have 10 times the disk storage, make it easier to create mySQL databases, domains and subdomains, and I have direct access to the error logs instead of being forced to view them through web interface.

And it's really easy to install perl modules in my local space. perl -MCPAN -e shell or something.

I've been testing on rob.thunderrabbit.com, and everything has worked except I haven't been able to check is my wordpress installation, because it has robnugen.com hardcoded into some of the links.

I've removed it from my navigation until I can test it properly.

Shweet.

It feels like it took a week since I started the process, but now I have officially moved my domain from webquarry.com to dreamhost.com, plus have gotten thunderrabbit.com again.

I have some sub-domains used: resume.robnugen.com, password.robnugen.com, and one other that's a secret for now (it has to do with spam).

Also on the new server we have a much better mySQL interface, and I've created several databases, used mysqldump to move my dbs from old rn.com to new rn.com and... tightened up the code used to draw the navigation at the top of the screen, and changed all cgi-locals to be cgi-bin (the way I prefer, but didn't know how to do it on webquarry), and now have a much cooler way to install modules locally, using "perl -MCPAN -e shell"

And I have 10 (ten) times more storage on this new server! Went from 2 to 20 gigs.

And just before I wrote this entry, I got imagesadmin to the point where I had it when I got mad at webquarry cause I couldn't see the error.log file.

bang.
