Entries this day: Crap Good Hitomi's_site Late Zzzz_computer_day Crap 11:22am JST Sunday 23 July 2006 Sigh. Trying to connect with the Information Superhighway, this new fangled highway to the future, but given that I only have the latest OS and shit I can't figure out this stupid hotspots directions. This shit should be painless. They should have directions with fewer directions than how to build a space station on the moon. I just want to get online. - - - - Our bad. It helps to scratch off all of the scratch-off part to reveal the entire instructions. But why would they put scratch-off on parts that are the same for everyone?? permalinkGood 12:57pm JST Sunday 23 July 2006 Have made better headway this time. Last night, I got WP and G2 installed on pekoneko.com, and when I was reading the docs on how to link them I discovered they must be installed on the same DB. Damn. I had carefully made sure they were on separate DBs, and in fact had deleted both installations and started over when I accidentally put them on the same DB. Now they are in the same DB again, and I have found the source of the link between the two; I had been distracted by silly wikis full of crap information for a bit, but I got past them to the real deal. 1:52pm Chowed at TGI Friday's across the street and about to go back. I think I've got her site past the hump and the final configuration will just be a simple install of a WP Plugin that will link the Gallery 2 data. Two of the requirements (this was part of the confuzzled part) were already part of the G2 installation, but just need to be activated. Better documentation regarding that would be good. permalinkHitomi's site 5:27pm JST Sunday 23 July 2006 Nice. Got Hitomi's site to a place where she is now uploading pictures and creating albums. She seems rather happy with the whole thing. I'm glad to see her excited about it! Next step is to get the album linked to her wordpress installation, but I am at a root-disabled dead end; I need the server admins to chown the wordpress directories in her user space from root to Hitomi's username. permalinkLate 9:56pm JST Sunday 23 July 2006 After spending lots of hours for $5 per person chillin' on internet, Hitomi and I finally got sick of it and headed out for dinner in ÉÊÀî. A bit of ice cream in front of the station; I was impressed the girl was able to give me a chocolate banana parfait without chocolate. Usually it's "impossible" to change an order. For example, I determined at McDonald's that buying two 100 yen shakes gives more shake than one medium shake for 200 yen. But they are unable to save cups and give me two small shakes' worth in a medium sized cup. Maybe it won't fit, but I think it will. Anyway, she gave me the chocolate banana parfait without chocolate without batting an eye at the strangeness. Awesome. permalinkZzzz computer day 2:18am JST Monday 24 July 2006 Nice: the crowning "achievement" included finding a version of Emacs whose sgml-mode.el file I can edit! I've now gotten html-rob-paragraph working again (it writes either <p> or <p class="dream">, depending on the name of the html file. Also C-ct and C-cT are working (create timestamp and full datestamp, respectively). Have't gotten C-cJ (Japanese date) working yet. And got Hitom's website pretty well set up, to the point that she's been happily uploading pictures, ... even using an FTP program to do it batchfully. I am so tired right now, that I have to like consciously push adrenaline from my adrenal gland into my brain. permalinkprev day next day |
