Entries this day: Korea Le_Gateway_data Postal_dream Postal_service Work chat_with_Reiko emacs Korea 5:13am JST Monday 4 September 2006 Korea to Dude, Fred, Jesse I'm probably going to Korea near the end of this month to reset my tourist visa, so I'm wondering if I will be disallowed to take my trusty tube of toothpaste on the plane. Therefore wondering about staging a media event to bitch about it at the airport.permalink Le Gateway data CD/track Wave II / Threshold 2: Problem Solving body position on back with legs bent CD player Panasonic SL-CT510 headphones Audio-Technica ATH-T3 ambient temperature 23 C clothing underwear working nostril(s) left emotional state sad about US Govt taking my rights physical fine head fine stomach hungry pain/soreness none phone/door outside/closed time allowed hours ambient light screen saver, dawn ambient noise highway 246 date/time 5:33am JST Monday 4 September 2006 location Sakurashinmachi apartment 5:40am JST restarting after closing the windows and outside door 6:16am JST Monday 4 September 2006 Question took various forms, and the first two didn't get answers, but then the third one, asking about what to do regarding the ability to take toothpaste on the flight was, "do research" As in, perhaps only the US and UK have this preposterous rule. Just as the track was finishing, I got this chat message from Fred: Fred: i think only america is damaged that way i would be surprised if you could stage a media event Sent at 6:10 AM on Monday me: UK was blocking toothpaste too; they had to cancel a lot of flights. Fred: yeah, well, us and uk are in bed together me: Japan too but not as much I hope Fred: i bet japan is more sane about "terrorism" and i'm sure korea has better things to worry about me: I was thinking about Japan's sanity recently in positive terms as you are suggesting in this case Fred: heh me: I'ma go back to sleep; your timing was lovely. Fred: k me: have a great rest of your day! Fred: wondered why you were awake aoight me: just taking a whiz then listening to a hemisynch CD track Fred: ah me: it was just finishing scope you later Fred: k nightpermalink Postal dream 10:31am JST Monday 4 September 2006 At a post office where a customer had a transaction in progress: a ig basket full of stuff. I came to the window an my large flat box was placed on top of the baset before the basket tranaction was finished. The postal employee was confirming with the customer, "so all of these are priority," referring to the items in the basket, which now also contained my parcel. I was walking along the counter alongside my box as the basket was moved along and a cute young woman with braces recognized what had happened. She asked about the box, and I was like, "I don't mind if it's also priority, but I'm not sure if it's been paid for," (which was strange because I knew it had not been paid for) She smiled, "it would go to the dumpster in the back, unless you fill out an anti-address form." The box was clearly addressed "From Google" I was flirty like, "an anti-address form?" "I know it's weird," "I'll do it only if you tell me why it's called an anti-address form." I was hoping she'd be facing me when she told the story so I could watch her bracey smile, but the story was short and she told most of it while going to the back and getting the form. "Basically I misunderstood the Japanese on the form, and told people to write the address, but it actually calls for a map." As she showed me the form, I could read some katakana on it, though the font was a bit sparse: ¥Õ¥¡¥Þ; it was supposed to be farm. permalinkPostal service 1:21pm JST Monday 4 September 2006 Mailed an overseas voter request form today, reusing some old window envelope from a bill. The postal worker had no concerns with this; I'm glad. Also got a stamp for my RSVP card for Nathan and Lauren's wedding. I won't be in attendance, but I like the artisticity of what I wrote, so at the last moment I decided not to send it yet; I'll get a picture first for posterity. permalinkWork 3:32pm JST Monday 4 September 2006 Just met a woman named Miho who's 23 and a stage actress. She just finished a month tour around Japan and will be in a show starting March at a pretty famous arena: Shinbashi something something center. I was well-entertained by her enjoying my stories, but tried to be careful to talk less and let her talk more. - - Happy to report she chose my lesson for next week. permalinkchat with Reiko 2:18am JST Tuesday 5 September 2006 (day 13313) Yammered with Reiko tonight after work. Nice to have a friend to talk about real stuff. Perhaps I desire wisdom and honesty more than other things. permalinkemacs 2:22am JST Tuesday 5 September 2006 (day 13313) I'm happy to have my day counter back in operation. I did it a far better way this time. Last time I had written a macro that opened calendar and all sorts of crap. This time it's all function driven: (print (concat " (day " (number-to-string (- (time-to-days (current-time)) (time-to-days '(109 0 0)))) ")")) But now, for some reason html-rob-paragraph is not working. Perhaps I can figure that out tomorrow. It's the code that prints either a dream paragraph or a plain paragraph depending on the file name. permalinkprev day next day |
