Dream

8:07am JST Sunday 1 October 2006 (day 13339)

Carla was walking down the hall toward me, and I thought it might not be here because it's a bit early for her to come back, but I ran down the hall to see her and hug her so hugely. So great to see her. Carla home meant Natalie was also home, so I found her and gave her the hugest hug ever; she was talking to Matt, saying that he wwould now have an easier name to pronounce. He could now be called Soth Korean Matt Cat in the Hat instead of his former name which was apparently longer, perhaps it was the title that took too much effor to say.

Got into a small elevator trying to go up to the fourth flor from the first, bt it went down to the basement first and I saw a friend of mine and was surprised the doors didn't close on the eleevator and it did't even hae all its walls, just three walls (floor back, and right) so as it w so I was able to talk to Natalie a bit onger as the elevator went up while she was stil on the basement floor ; I was a bit nervous as the frame of the building seemed frighteningly close as the elevator went up through the levels. One nerly hit me as we went up through it, like th elevator shaft shifted toward the right a bit, bu I survived the ride to the fourth floor (thought it took well longer than 4, perhaps 10 floors) and I was still chatting with Naalie, though she couldn't hear me well, I danced for her as I ot off the elevator; I did a basement floor dace to send it all the way back down to pick her up.

(before going up (down then up) elevator:)

Was in dirty dusty outdoor construction area, going into an apartment building, and noting all the dirt and dust on the floor had not been cleaed up since it was tracked n during construction. I got onto the elevator and prssed 2 to go up, but it went down instead. Natalie was there, and I was happy to see her, but I couldn't hug her because here was no room on the elevator.

I posted an email to Becki and accidentally left in the word "stalker," knowing that it wouldn't be appreciated. It wasn't appreciated, but too late now.

Ultimate

5:50pm JST Sunday 1 October 2006 (day 13339)

Ultimate was a bit sparse: Clif and I tossed from 1:30 to 3pm. He taught me how to do a thumber (like a hammer but with opposite grip) and we played a game (that needs a name): basically throw the disc with the same grip as it was caught, and from the same side of the body.

No one else came; they were all at a tournament. Good thing the student I invited couldn't come!

ginza with Tomoko and Sumidasan

5:53pm JST Sunday 1 October 2006 (day 13339)

Going to Ginza soon to meet Tomoko and Sumidasan and chow.

9:42pm JST Sunday 1 October 2006 (day 13339)

Dinner was great, and included ideas for sales in the US; they are looking for a bit of help with some business letters in English.

Now we are in カラオケ and there are more Eminem songs. They don't have "Rabbit Run," but I just sang "My Dad's Gone Crazy," which is another one that I enjoy (but isn't at most other karaoke places).

They also have more Beastie Boys, so I was able to do "Intergalactic Planetary," but not my favorite (on the same album), though I've forgotten the name. It has a line "I'm the benihana chef on the S-P-12; chop the fuck out the beats left on the shelf; you be like 'hello nasty; where you been?'; time to bring those grimy beats up out the dungeon" or some shit like that.

11:10pm JST Sunday 1 October 2006 (day 13339)

We got a bit more than 2 hours in the karaoke place because a couple of times the machine screwed up and didn't play the background music, making it a cappella..

Definitely liked that location for its far more complete English selection. They even had "Stay" by Shakespear's Sister (though I was basically unable to sing it), and many other songs and artists I've not been able to find elsewhere in Japan.

At the end I sang "Nothing Compares 2U" by Sinead O'conner (sp), which I thought was the last song. But we still had time, so I busted out "Bust a Move" by Young MC, and we still had time, so I finished with "Without Me" by Eminem.

For some reason the tempo was super duper super slow, and I kept passing the shit out of the song even when I apparently maxed out the tempo increase.

Super great times with my longest-term, loveliest friends in Tokyo.

good morning

1:23pm JST Monday 2 October 2006 (day 13340)

In Omote Sando, while waiting for the train, a girl two seats from me fell asleep. Our train came and everyone else got up except her. Following Japan's inability to communicate with strangers, I just bumped her arm a bit and made brief eye contact before walking to the train.

I could have easily started a conversation; she was quite thankful for having been woken up; she would have been screwed to miss last train (though this was only the second to last train), through which she easily could have snoozed. But, I didn't. I didn't think of the first thing to say which could have been おはよございます or 大丈夫?

She made eye contact with me and smiled thanks, and then smilingly thanked me again when she got off at her station (駒沢大学). I seem to have forgotten to be a bit outgoing as prescribed by my epiphany in Korea.

Hmmmm.
