Talking with a guy in a tennis court who spontaneously came up with a tennis / baseball hybrid game for three people. One is the batter, and whoever can recover the most batted tennis balls becomes the next batter.

I knew his son, a young boy with curly blond locks. I was like, "your dad is pretty cool."

I don't remember what topic we had been discussing before the game, but it was interesting.

Great fun chatting with Fred, Dude and Dr Cutie on skype today. Mostly the boys talking about nerdy stuff, but a little about US vs Japanese health care costs. Vero guesses my shoulder surgery would have been $10,000; we all agree it would have been done that same day instead of waiting 48 hours after the accident.

We spent a bit of time testing microphones, trying to minimize feedback; I tried to make my comp's hard drive stop oscillating for no apparent reason. I don't know what it's doing, but the entire conversation featured what sounded like a motorboat, or perhaps a thousand monkeys at the NSA transcribing our conversation.

Days old and return dates were discussed. Dr C nearly figured out my birthdate given Dude's birthdate and both of our ages in days. I'm 68 days older than Dude.

Didn't hear much about Fred's current project, nor his car, nor the link I sent, a google translation of C'était un rendez-vous by Claude Lelouch.

Reika called me 45 minutes after I was supposed to meet her at 11am.

"Oh, Reika."

I felt like a moron.

The nice thing was Dude and Vero said my Japanese sounded pretty good; I pretty much spoke to Reika in Japanese because I knew they were listening, and it was a good chance to "show it off," but still.... moron.

Held hands across the table with Yuki at work. She's only 20; stoppit.

Encouraged Kyoko to buy _How to Win Friends and Influence People_ as she has Disney coming to Japan to get mad at her company for misrepresenting Elmo or some such. She was worried about how to handle them. I immediately recommended that book.

She emailed me; she got it tonight.
