Dream

9:29am JST Sunday 22 October 2006 (day 13360)

I enjoyed sitting next to Kattrean in my dream this morning. There were several other PB people there, some from both of my voyages. We were sitting outside a grocery store (as you do) and I was super happy to see her. She wouldn't say anything, which made me realize I was dreaming. So I just sat and enjoyed her presence until I woke up.

10pm JST Sunday 22 October 2006 (day 13360)

I'm reading a book called _TO BE A MAN_ which is discussing what it means to "be a man" and what it
"should" mean to be a man. Really interesting theory on why men want to marry their mothers. wow.

My weekend was pretty easy yesterday at work; plenty of breaks. Next week only two 20 minute
breaks. One of my students yesterday wanted my lesson again, but couldn't find any time on my
schedule... turns out the receptionist had given me a 60 minute break!! I was like, "no no no no
break.. just 20 minutes a couple times is plenty." Jamie, another teacher, was like, "Rob, you're
a machine!" hahaha .. no, I'm just poor. :-)

Good day at ultimate, though I'm a bit sore.

If you have time, I'd like to see you tomorrow after my men's group and tell you about the book.
Do you have time?

Iron John

12:14am JST Monday 23 October 2006 (day 13361)

Now, the amazing thing about the "Iron John" story is that it doesn't say that the golden ball is
being held by some benign Asian guru or by a kind young man named Jesus. There's something
connected with getting the golden ball back that is incompatible with niceness. And the frog only
turns into a prince when it is thrown against the wall in a fit of what New Age people might call
"negative energy." New Age thought has taught young men to kiss frogs. That doesn't always work.
You only get your mouth wet. The women's movement has helped women learn to throw the frog against
the wall, but men haven't had this kind of movement yet. The kind of energy I'm talking about is
not the same as macho, brute strength which men already know enough about; it's foreceful action
undertaken, not without compassion, but with resolve.
