Entries this day: Embassy_unscathed Marble_track_Yuki Work Embassy unscathed 12:14pm JST Friday 24 November 2006 (day 13393) Just leaving the US Embassy after successfully finding out that I don't need to visit the embassy to get my work visa sorted out. I basically had low / zero expectations of anything but a wasted morning, given that my boss whined like a baby, "it's not my fault" when I pointed out my name had been misspelled as Nguyen on the work-visa approval certificate. He was like, "you should try anyway," and I was like, "I don't fucking want to go down there and waste my time and train tickets," etc etc empty threats, and then I was like, "ah fuck; I'm sorry; thanks for letting me work illegally." And then I went and the Embassy was closed, and then I went today and it's not the right place to go. At this point I am going to have Reiko (receptionist) call the form given to me by the woman at the embassy as the correct place to go/contact regarding the visa / name screw up. permalinkMarble track Yuki 5:44pm JST Friday 24 November 2006 (day 13393) My favorite Yuki helped place some pieces on marble track II here at work. She cut, dated, signed, placed the ramp that reverses little marbles and the adjoining triple toothpick guide rails. The marble track is drying on the middle of my table; fortunately my next student is late. permalinkWork 10:54pm JST Friday 24 November 2006 (day 13393) Just got back from work; I was quite tempted to bring my marble track home, but left it there; 2 days with no marble track activity planned. During my last lesson (with Ia Shu, who is not Japanese, but I don't remember where she's from; perhaps Taiwan) I started sneezin' like a mo fo. Not fun, but I seem to be cleared up now. It was weird. And sneezy. permalinkprev day next day |
