Dream 10:00am JST Tuesday 26 December 2006 (day 13425) Riding around and around and around on a roller coaster, I was overhearing the woman in front of me, who was talking to her kids and too herself. She wanted to raise them believing that they would be better off by not eating fat, and I was like, "how are you going to teach them that? You don't have to turn around to answer me; just keep chatting with your kids." the kids were like 3 and 5 years old, so they basically just wanted attention and would not understand the topic of conversation anyway. We were still going around the roller coaster, and this time I didn't notice part of the ride that had passed, it was like I had blanked out during part of the ride, whereas before I had been accutely aware of each nuance. I was thinking about her problem: if she just says "fat is bad" o her kids, they will probably grow up with prejudices against people who are overweight, and it wouldn't be the optimal solution. permalinkWork 7:13pm JST Tuesday 26 December 2006 (day 13425) Fun times today; showed my shoulder X-rays to my favorite Yuki (and showed her the camera on my computer, obtaining a cute pic of her and Francois) and to Makiko, who said she would help me pay for my shoulder last week (so I brought the X-rays this week). Makiko seemed pretty intrigued by my idea of counting days old, said it could be interesting, especially for the aging population of Japan. Still not sure how to market the idea, though. Just chatted with Rie, and ended up giving her several several vocabulary words, starting with bad, rude, mean, impolite, as she was thinking of words to fit "his friends think gossiping is ______." On 20 minute break now, and my next student has cancelled (80 minute lesson!) I hope to get the flash game corrected; I gotta figure out how to essentially stop the timeline and then restart it, all within one frame. Can't do that (according to my limited research), so I gotta split this frame functionality to separate frames. permalinkprev day next day |
