Email to the Heidies y Juan

8:43am JST Saturday 27 January 2007 (day 13457)

Heidie and Heidie y Juan

Congratulations on creating a defining point in internet history! I'm sure there will be many
imitators, but you three were simply amazing. I'm really glad I'll get to tell my grandkids that I
was there! Not in the pool, but at least on the screen!

You've captured the hearts of millions; congratulations for pulling off the lifelong dream of many.
I hope you enjoy the Diesel campaign and set your sights higher for the next adventure!

I got some video captures that I'm trying to put on youtube, but there's no audio... That will
teach me to get some real video capture software! I hope Arturo posts the vids he's got. With
sound, no less!

I've got to zoom to work;

Virtual hugs and real love

From the Heidies

8:52am JST Saturday 27 January 2007 (day 13457)

From The Heidies:

Goodbye (for now)

We did it!!! We had our 15MB of fame, and it was more fun than we've ever had in our lives. But we
did not work (and chat, and party, and dance, and take jelly baths...and stay up all night...and
wear panda suits) like dogs to get famous if you are just going to forget us tomorrow. 15MB of fame
is not enough for us Heidies...we want 15GIGS!!!!!

Spread the word. Tell your friends. Put our images and videos on your blogs (tell us about them and
we'll link to you too!). Become our friends on Myspace. Cos we'll be back, and we want you to be
there with us when it happens! (send a message to seen@heidies - and we promise to keep in touch!).

We made some great friends in the process, and to be honest, if it was not for you we would not have
been able to do it (or have had half the fun!).

Remember. These days it doesn't take much to get famous. Look, we did it in five days! All that
matters how you do it. All it took was some underwear, a little hostage taking and a blindingly fast
connection to the internet. Oh, and a little help from our friend Marc (and a few of his
friends). Thanks Marc, you're the best!

Kisses

Until the next time!

(Oh, and Juan says bye to!)

...and the site will stay up! We will update with lots of more videos and pictures.

Train cards

9:23am JST Saturday 27 January 2007 (day 13457)

If it were worth the effort, I would (have to) revise the numbers for my free cash via train cards campaign. Today a card showing 50 yen on it actually came up as 0 yen according to the machine. Must be that the magnetic data doesn't match the printed information.

I found out the "real" value by asking the guys at the window, and then when I tried using *another* card, it too responded with the loud dingdongproblematic behavior happening at the gate.

I just busted through, though; it's not so hard to do.

Work

11:24am JST Saturday 27 January 2007 (day 13457)

Just had a programmer named 美須々(みすず) who wrote a BBS for her portfolio, and then 理乃 (あやの), whose second kanji I'd never seen before.

Next are まり and ちか, the two girls I barked at the second time I met them for having no idea what they were doing. They still seem to have no idea, but actually, they're getting better.

Mari and Chika were great; they're definitely getting better. I "kept score" on their correct vs incorrect answers. Mari got an early lead, but in the end Chika won, 53 to 50.

break

4:06pm JST Saturday 27 January 2007 (day 13457)

Had a pretty long break today due to consecutive cancellations, plus a 40 minute break before them. 1pm to 4:20 was enough time to work on flash, go buy real bread from the German bakery, read about Swamp Dogg (from whom Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, and The Dogg Pound ultimately got their double G's), and studied some Japanese.

I studied some Japanese!!

I haven't done that in months.

5:02pm JST Saturday 27 January 2007 (day 13457)

Dang. My next lesson from 4:20 to 5:40 is a no-show! (1/2 of the lesson has passed with no contact from the student)

emacs

11:32am JST Saturday 27 January 2007 (day 13457)

Not sure how it happened; the screen was off at the time and I didn't notice, but as I was typing about train cards, somehow the font face in emacs jumped to huge size. Like the whole window just magnified by 4x.

I checked view-lossage, but the magic command had escaped. I don't have a dribble file running, so I couldn't check that. I figured out I can adjust it with the mouse: Shift-leftclick Courier->24

But how to invoke by keypress? And how to keep the screen size the same, but enlarge the font?

shimpei

7:52pm JST Saturday 27 January 2007 (day 13457)

Shimpei thought I had said I could *not* come tonight, but, whatever I actually said, I meant that I could come tonight. I called him around 7:07pm; he had been in Shibuya, but had gone home, so I bid him a good night and wondered what to do. I had already committed myself to the drink bar, thought I had only gotten two orange juices, and one cup of hot cocoa,, "ice" version, meaning it's twice as rich. (I got a double)

I decided to cut my losses and just go home, but after one more read of the paragraph from which I had scooped those words earlier today.

train station

7:56pm JST Saturday 27 January 2007 (day 13457)

On the way home, I saw some station attendants removing an advertisement which had apparently passed its prime. This reminded me that I've wanted a copy of the "おとな but カワイ" poster, featuring the girl with the face of an angel.

Walked down stairs and found a poster rolled up, in its plastic wrapper. I simply snagged it and continued walking. I felt a bit guilty, so I carried the poster home inside the sleeve of my G hoodie. I haven't unrolled it yet, but can see that though it's *not* the holy grail, it does feature cute smiling Japanese girls; I'm going to have a shower and then see what I've got.

Oh, and, in my station, I got a pic of the construction notice for the new escalators. I *might* update the entry in Wikipedia for the station.
