Recently

10:53pm JST Friday 2 February 2007 (day 13463)

Random things:

  1. Recently sent Masako my Pascal source code for DOTS that I wrote in 1990. I'd like to rewrite the game in Java, though overall, it's a low priority project.

  2. My girl stayed over last night, and missed her train to go home on time this morning. She said she wasn't late for work, but I was a bit worried.

  3. I took pics of Marble Track 2 tonight before "archiving" it for the next 13 days.

  4. I've not been working on the flash project as much as last week; without feedback from Tariq, I just wasn't as motivated. I did do some work, but wasn't pouring in the long hours.

  5. While Michael's been gone, I've been living in the living room (of all places) instead of my bedroom. Looks like tonight and tomorrow night will be the last two nights of this arrangement.

  6. Lots of students seem to have been asking me "do you have Japanese friends?" Not sure why I'm noticing this more than before. My answer has been, "I don't really have *any* friends in Tokyo." Need I make some more (Japanese) friends?

Work

8:39pm JST Friday 2 February 2007 (day 13463)

Fridays are hip hop day at work. Victor and I are the only two teachers to start, so we always ask Reiko to put the radio on hip hop. It's awesome because they play uncensored versions of everything, and none of it is Japanese hip hop.

My first several lessons were definitely easier than my most recent lesson. He was just reading and not understanding and reading and no real interest in the text. Argh. I keep thinking about Hamdi (??) from Physics II at UH. "We will not read the text in this class. If we only needed the text, then we could just go home, have a glass of wine, and read the text. If the text is silver, then my notes are gold."

Or some such like that.

On the good side, I chatted with Rie, and she put two pieces on Marble Track II. I wish Ono were still here so he could see the completion of the switch; progress is moving along in a spritely manner these days.

Also enjoyed chatting with Aki; today is her 9793rd day on earth. 29 August of this year will be 10,000. (If my calculations slash memory were slash are correct)

Akiko is giggling in the next room; her English is the best of all the students in this school. Really delightful.

drunk on train

10:27pm JST Friday 2 February 2007 (day 13463)

I just missed the 10:26pm train, so I'm going to go the other direction so I ca (*)

(*) fucking hell. Some drunk-ass salaryman dipshit is all laid out drunk on the train and dropped his fucking beer so it poured all over the floor and is now streaming up and down the train ready for some old wo/man to slip and bust their ass on it.

While I wrote the above, three people vacated the seats around the spill and someone informed him of his disgusting self, and he got off the train.
