Entries this day: Dream Free_from_that_pesky_Internet flash_game Dream 8:40am JST Tuesday 3 April 2007 (day 13523) Walked into the room, more like barged into the room and was like, "when will you guys be ready?" and then realized they were all busy taking a test! I knew them all well enough to keep walking in even so; all the way up to the teacher administering the test (topic was woodshop) and confirmed my hunch that they should be finished at 4:20, which happened to be in exactly 2 minutes. "Why is the test so hard?" I asked him "Our woodshop test was super easy, like, "should you wear safety goggles when using the chipper?"" He laughed and was like, "yeah; it's gotten harder." "Show me; show me," I reached for the test and flipped through it a bit. The questions were long like, "Mr Flanson wants to build a carrot shaped roof over his new shed. The weather report suggests there will be a strong possibility of snow this year, although normally the city receives only about 2 inches of snow per year. Mr Flanson has a dog named Rex who likes to dig up the neighbor's carrots. The neighbor, Rudy Peale, has just installed an electric fence around his carrot patch. What is the optimal slope Mr Flanson should use for the roof of his shed to allow the right amount of snow to slide off and entertain Rex enough that he won't go get shocked on Peale's fence? (Show your work)" The test was over by the time I finished reading the question, and the students started handing in their papers and all giving me handshakes and thanking me for my help during the year; some asked me if I would come to their party the next day or the next, and I was like, "I'd like to," and in all cases, I meant it. I saw Miah (Cudhea), "Brooke," the equivalent of Phat Pat, and countless others, all very well known to me, but all without clear matches in waking life. I stayed until the room was clearing out and then woke up permalinkFree from that pesky Internet 11:05am JST Tuesday 3 April 2007 (day 13523) It could have happened a few days ago when Mike announced our internet connection will be cut off soon. I had happily been listening to iTunes all night (this is relevant because all my music is stored on Amazon's S3), and this morning had just set iTunes to only play songs it hadn't played yet. (not sure why the randomness had some songs played 6 times, and some songs played 0 times, but whatever) "Voices Carry" by 'til Tuesday, "This is Ponderous" by 2NU, and then several Beastie Boys songs from a live album recorded in Germany. Had just paused the music during "Three MC's and One DJ" and headed down to get some foodage. Saw a guy on the phone standing inside a control room thing next to the elevator, and actually guessed they might be *installing* our new service, which I'm glad to say Mike signed up for already (just yesterday, and at my repeated request). Got 1.5 liters of OJ, a slice of pizza, and a bowl of some sorta soup, headed upstairs past the guy behind the scenes, and covered the pizza and soup in cheese, and tossed them into the toaster oven and microwave oven, for 3 minutes each, respectively. Balanced pizza on soup bowl on plate in my right hand, orange juice bottle under my left arm, carefully didn't drop anything while opening the door to get into my room. Sat back down, put on my headphones, clicked play. (!) This song does not exist; would you like to look for it? clicked play again. again. Clicked Yes to search for it. Jungle Disk wasn't responding. Oh shizah. Flipped over to Firefox and saw under Quick Contacts, "Unable to reach Gmail. Please check your internet connection." Shit. Plus I have a meeting online with Tariq at 12:15pm. (haha; Michael just woke up.) "Good morning!" "Howdy." "Today's the Big Day!" I shouted to him in the living room. No response yet. Maybe he'll discover the awful truth before I finish this sentence and walk into the living room. 12:51pm JST Tuesday 3 April 2007 (day 13523) sending this from McD's in Shibuya..... permalinkflash game 12:53am JST Wednesday 4 April 2007 (day 13524) Nice. I got a cute little game made today. I'll show Tariq tomorrow when we meet in Shinjuku at Tower Records, one of the first stores I visited on my first day in Japan. permalinkprev day next day |
